iphone 5 not working with usb port

i have a 2011 sonata and the iphone 5 does not work with it. I tried using the direct plug from the iphone and the adapter, neither work. it connects and disconnects every half second or so and never fully stays on.

I tried with a old iphone and ipod and they both work fine.... anyone else have this issue?

Mine works fine with the Hyundai cable and lightning to 30 pin adapter. Although I have to remove the phone from the case. I usually just stream via bluetooth. (2012 w/ Navi).

I think the ipod USB cable only works with the 2012 models and up, with no nav system. On the 2011, you'll need the Hyundai ipod cable, and with an iphone 5, you'll probably need the lightning to 30 pin connector too, as RBD mentioned.

200% positive, 2011 requires the Hyundai Ipod adapter. No other ways around.

Make that 300%

Key points:

> All cars with NAV require the Hyundai special cable.
> Any Apple product with lightning connecter will also require the 30 pin to lightning adapter as well.

> 2012 and Newer cars WITHOUT NAV should be able to use the standard Apple lightning to USB cable.

This is probably one of the most misunderstood features of Hyundai cars. Admittedly this is a bit confusing since it depends on NAV/No NAV and the year of the car.

There's the problem. I *think* some have had some luck with certain aftermarket ones, but the Hyundai one wins out.

You are lucky... I got the Hyundai adapter from the dealership, had to go buy the lightening adapter and upon plugging it in, all I got was feedback.
