Unhappy Rear Deck Speaker DOA

Went on a roadtrip with another couple; first time the back seat got some real action

They noticed that the rear deck (trunk mount) speaker was not working. We tinkered with the settings, looked through the manual. I tried again today.

I cannot get it to play. I do not see any disconnected wires on the speaker, but I am not an expert. Two wires (white and black) seem securely connected.

2012 2.0t Limited. Dimensions Stereo.

Any Ideas ?

Thanks, Pat

PS. I am more of an on off type than a variable eq in dynamic mode with mid range SQVA, faded blah blah blah type

That speaker is for bass only, so you won't hear most of the music coming from it. It will only be loud for deep bass notes. Bass is also non-directional, so even bass won't sound like it is coming from the speaker.

Try playing music with some solid low bass and put your hand over it to see if it works.

I've got my speakers faded about 1/3 of the way to the back. This gives that rear sub a little bit more of a chance to work it's magic without the front speakers being too loud.....

Also, if its really cold I've found that the speaker is very limited until it warms up in the car. I thought mine was blown or just not working one day when my usual bassy music was having little to no noticeable effect on the sub. Once the air within the cabin warmed up, so did the material the speaker is made of and began working. It was just so cold that the speaker was stiff I'm guessing.

This happens less now actually. I'm almost wondering if its "worked in". Who knows.

Good luck!
