This Morning while driving to work, EPS warning light came off and suddenly the car became very heavy and very difficult to maneuver. i was very close to my work so somehow i made to the parking. i restarted the car but the EPS light was still there. i goggled and it is electronic power steering failure. i will again check after an hour to see if the light is still there.
Its a 2014 Limited with tech.
Someone please help me what should i do :|

Easy answer, get it back to the dealership for warranty.

Update: so i have my car towed to a nearest dealership and they looked at it and said its not a software glitch or something and looks like the entire steering column is gone. its very unusual for a car which is not even 1 yr old.
They told me they have to put an emergency order for steering column and it could take additional 2 days for delivery and for the fix.
they didn't offer me a loaner car or something and i had to arrange my transport back to my home which is 110 km away from the dealership.
So after one train, one bus and two cabs i made it home safely
I am very much frustrated by this whole thing :frown::frown:

Welcome to the Hyundai family :grin2:

I got a flat tire once on the way home from work. Had it TOWED to the dealer which was about 50 miles from my house. Shop just closed, no loaner cars so I had to get a rental. Nobody would drive me to the car rental place 5 minutes down the road even though they had about 10 salespeople sitting around with their fingers in their butts. Started making some noise in the showroom and got a ride real quick. Threw the guy a $20 for his trouble. Luckily I have the extra insurance on tires, paint, windshield, etc. so I got a new tire, but not from Hyundai since the insurance is through a third party.

Hyundai gave me a free oil change for my trouble.

Customer service is not one of Hyundai's strong points.

I agree that the whole steering column needing replacement is very strange too. I'm surprised they didn't give you a ride home. My place has a shuttle service and if they can't get you into a loaner they will pick you up and drop you off at home or work. Hopefully it will be repaired in a timely manner.

I think you missed the 110 km (a bit over 65 miles). So I can understand the dealership not offering a ride. It is disappointing that no loaner was arranged. That does seem to be a flaw in Hyundai's warranty coverage, that they do not offer some type of rental/courtesy car coverage for major repairs -- from what I see, it is up to what the dealer is willing to do.

I am surprised at the amount of times I've read here about dealers not giving out loaner cars.

I know it's up to each dealer, but how do you build a better brand for future sales if you don't step up to the plate.

I understand if it's a couple hour or a work day fix, but not to have a car for 2+ days with no loaner is insane.

I am very frustrated by how this whole situation was handled. I did call the dealership next day and told them about my experience and how inefficient they are in handling priority cases. i dropped off my car at 12 and requested their service advisor that i don't live in the area and in-case i need to leave my car overnight, i need to know in advance so i can plan transportation back to my home. I called after 2 hours and they said your car is next. again i called around 4 Pm and they said your car is next. Then when i got there around 5 PM they told me they cant fix it today and they need to order a part and they will keep my car for three days. i felt so cheated and miserable. i asked them about loaner car they said NO. i asked them about rental car they said Hyundai doesn't cover for rental car .i asked them if they can drop me at the nearest train station, they said shuttle is closed now. I had to take cab from there to the station.
I have decided to call/email Hyundai Canada office and taking this matter to their superiors

I've had great dealers (paid for a rental when they ran out of loaners, gave me a loaner with NAV due to a planned road trip) and I've had horrible dealers (agreed that the early HPCU issues were a danger and that I shouldn't drive it but wouldn't give me a loaner and wouldn't work on it because they couldn't recreate the problem, dirtied my headliner and steering wheel every time I went there). I've also had horrible dealers become great dealers and great dealers become horrible dealers. I think it depends on your service manager. It is very bad when you aren't close to several dealers for some competition.

I'd recommend writing those comments at all the forums you find on Hyundai, leave it as a comment when Corporate asks for feedback, email/call/meet with the dealership's owners/GM/service manager/sales manager, call and email corporate, and leave a negative remark at the BBB. The power of reviews is impressive, if enough people leave poor reviews, they'll have to change or they'll fail.

Please post the dealership name.

I've been given loaners or shuttle rides to and from my dealer numerous times when I had extended work done regarding the charging system problems early on. They once gave me a brand new (floor mats still-in-the-trunk-in-plastic packaging) Santa Fe which I almost felt guilty taking. Another time they gave me a nearly new turbo Sonata that was a blast to drive, but both drank a lot more fuel than the hybrid. I guess it really depends on what dealer you use. I once owned a Grand Cherokee and the Jeep dealer always gave out Jeep loaner vehicles when anyone was having work on their vehicle that took more than half a day, but the manager told me they had to stop that policy because some knuckleheads would go four wheeling with the loaners and beat them up bad, so they would have you go with a rental and offer to pay for it. I think that one of the guys could have offered you a lift to the train, even if he said you were test driving it to his boss.
