Cruise control boosting speed a lot when first set?

I just hit over 4,000 miles on my 2015 HSH and as far as I remember whenever I used set the cruise control the speed would set there and just continue there.

But I just took my second 600 mile trip to FL and on the way there whenever I set the cruise control around 60 mph after I let go of the gas the car would shoot up to around 65 mph like a rocket, which in my opinion is a very unsafe thing, and then little by little would slow down to 60 mph.

I am not sure if the car did this on my first trip to FL but i'm pretty sure it didn't.

Is this normal? For safety reasons I'm going to take it to the dealer but I want to hear if this happens to most people so I can accept a BS answer or if I shouldn't.

Thanks for your answers.

Took it to the dealer and since they didn't have any rentals available they told me they will call me once they do, since they couldn't re-create my issue since there was a lot of traffic, not happy I have to go twice, they have a lot full of cars and can't come up with a loaner.. kinda sucks, but we'll see, even thou one of the techs couldn't figure out how to set up the cruise control and after he had set it around 45mph he floored it and it seems like that might have helped.

So now I'm not sure if I should bring it in anymore.. ugh, I hate when I know there is a problem but can't quite prove it.

My 2011 and 2013 have both done this. I commented about this once before a long time ago. It only does it at higher speeds. I have found that if you let the car coast before you hit "SET" then it won't happen as often. My 2011 used to jump up 5 mph quickly then slowly come back to where I set it. I told the dealership about it and their comment was "couldn't duplicate". Not surprising but I would recommend that you have a passenger video it while you are driving so that you can show it to the dealer then maybe they will do something.

Thank you very much, I do have a dash cam but the way they made me feel when I was explaining them to them they made me feel like an idiot.

I'm not looking for a freebie, but it wasn't like this before. I paid a lot of money for the extended warranty so I want some respect.

Their job is to spend as little as they can so they will do things like that so that they won't have to fork out the cash. Take the video and show it to them and then see what happens. I've just learned to live with it and not start the CC until I have a bit of a gap between me and the car in front of me.

Good luck!

Well after taking it to another dealer and them not testing the car properly I have emailed ConsumerAffairs@hmausa.com we'll see what happens.

Out of many issues that these dealerships deal with unfortunately this cruise control issue can actually lead to a collision, and I'm tired of my car rocketing every time I set the cruise control. It is getting to the point where I'm thinking about buying another car and even losing thousands because this issue is way to unsafe for me and my family. And since it's not something as simple as a clank or a visual defect, or something like that they think I'm one of those mental customers that are making stuff up.

I understand that they can't jump to replace stuff just because people say it's not working properly but I am disappointed on how badly they tested my car and how little they've tried to fix things.

I just finished a longer trip with my 2013 and I watched for this. I saw the same thing. I had the cruise set to 74 for most of the trip and every time I hit resume it would accelerate up to 77, and then settle back down to 74. Irritating when you are trying to gently ease into cruise. I also found that if I hit resume when doing over 74 it would coast for a bit, accelerate to back up to 77, then settle back down to 74.
