2012 HSH Battery Life Time Warranty

So it has now been about 45 days since I purchased my HSH. Last night I recieved a welcome package from Hyundai. So I started reading it and it mentioned the lifetime warranty on the hybrid batterries. It said if you don't think they are performing to call your dealer to have it swapped out.

I thought this was interesting? What are your thoughts.

I think they need to rework the ECU so the batteries hold more of a charge. Mileage is still not up to par in my book, and working with the battery charge would help alleviate my concerns. While my next car will be a hybrid, unless Hyundai can come up with better software to increase my mileage the next car absolutely will not be a Hyundai.

The battery warranty is lifetime, but it is non-transferable.

I agree that the battery system could use some work. I feel like it could be 100% electric in the city, only using the engine to continuously charge the battery. Mine rarely ever gets below 50% charged before it switches to ICE drive, which I feel is a waste. And it has never gotten to 100% charged. What's the point of having that much battery if it never uses it?

Wayne Gerdes with a bunch of journalists just finished seeing what Hyundai is coming out with and sent me this note.

Tom, she did excellent and please keep in touch. I drove a "special" 12 (or maybe later ) HSH this week that I am NDA'ed to discuss until this fall but when it arrives, you may be receiving a flash for a very good reason. Think of it as a high draft choice or “Player to be named later” possible addition to your own stable while keeping with the theme of this trip.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and see if he is talking about the battery program.

Tom

I worked hard on economy today after filling up. Drove on city streets, stopped to pick up dinner, came home then went to Sam's Club an hour ago. got a ways to go, but here is where I am so far.

I don't have any photo's to show, but my last fill up this past Friday, I ended up with a 49.7 mpg. Keep in mind I added one extra gallon after my first click.
Also my dealer sent me a reminder that one year ago today, is when I drove my Sonata off the dealership.

So is he saying might get an update to the battery to improve performance? That would be pretty cool.

That's all he can say for now, but I'm sure we are going to be pleased in the spirit of his journey to get incredible gas mileage.
