Aftermarket Mods...?

Wife and I just picked up a black and a white 2016 Sonata Limited PHEV.... First thing I noticed is the front grill and the non-continuation of it below the top half where the license plate goes... Anyone know if they make aftermarket grills that match OEM to replace the black plastic insert? A shame they didn't integrate their front sensor into the grill - not sure if there is a work around on that either?

This model is sure beautiful - only gripe is those darn rims! I know the need for a low drag rim but I'm curious - if we swap them out for a low profile 19" rim what type of MPG will we realistically lose?

Used or leftover 2016 PHEV ?

I would bet it's more the low rolling resistance tire then rim "drag". The low resistance tires seem to only be a few bucks more, so no drastic costs. Not like the run flat tire against regular tires. It's basically getting that extra .1 mpg over the thousands of cars they sell that for Fed Regulations. That's why they are dropping spare tires, some 40 lbs against 4 Lbs for the stupid Kits they give you.

FYI I put on light weight 18" Enkei TY5 on my wife Hybrid Ultimate with 225/50 tires and drop 5 mpg. Car seem harder and slower to take off cause gas engine fire up easier too. I believe few reasons causing this:

Wider non LRR tires
taller overall diameter (0.55") hurt accelerate
Wheel installed in late Sept and gas up right after; that tank of gas may already been switched to winter blend which also hurt the mpg.

Right now in winter the car drop another 5mpg for the total of 10mpg (same commute everyday). Will see how much I get the mpg back after May with summer blend gas and warm weather. Also plan to put LRR 225/45 tires before next winter.

Hope that give you some idea.

I agree, the wheels kill the look of a very nice looking car.

Yes I was surprise to see that much too; was expecting around 3mpg. The real surprise was the acceleration, before with OE tires I could use EV only in stop and go traffic on a flat 25mph zone; now it is very hard and impossible if any car following me cause I am way too slow.

But it look so good....
