My new 2016 Sonata Limited Ultimate - I got it as a corporate demo with 2600 miles.

My 2016 has a Google Local Search Ion on my GPS Search Screen, where does the information come from ?
I searched for a restaurant when coming out of the movie theater. The google search found it with just the restaurant name and NJ. It came on the screen and I tapped it and touched the Set As Destination. Bingo, very fast.

Where is the information coming from, my phone ? ? It's own data base ? The car book says nothing.

I also have a Pandora icon. Says you have to be connected by BlueTooth. These programs are noted in my Hybrid handbook.

Don't know the version of the software yet. Is this on any earlier cars ?

I'm not sure where you're looking. My 2016 Limited will find local places by name from the built-in navigation database. But some searches, like from the phone app, require the Blue Link Guidance subscription. I let the Guidance subscription expire after the trial because it's way too expensive just to be able to pick a destination from my phone, send it to the car and have it waiting for me when I start the car. If it was $9.99 a year I might do it but certainly not for ten times that amount.

This is the site where you can purchase navigation updates: https://www.mapnsoft.com/

My car came with v9.5 and supposedly the Android Auto/Apple Car Play update updated it. But when you look at the differences from v10.0 to v10.5 there aren't that many, just as there weren't that many from v9.5 to v10.0: 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Map Update-105S55 - Map Updates

Given the expense I might do it every three or four years unless a new highway exit goes in or something. I still keep my Garmin with free map updates and free HD traffic in the car. It doesn't do my pocketbook any good to be saving money on gas only to spend it on map updates.

Yes, I just tried it. It says I need a subscription, so your car must be activated for the Guidance trial or you're still on that corporate's dime. It uses the cellular service built into your car. If you go to hyundai.com and login to My Hyundai you can see.

Directly above and slightly to the right is where I type stuff to find it in the navigation database.
