I would like it, too, if I could turn the fog lights on and off independently of the low beam lights (2007 Santa Fe). How does one go about making that modification. Please give the steps involved.
I was able to get to the wiring of the Fog light switch (located to the left of the steering wheel on my 2007 Santa Fe). The panel of switches pops out quite easily and then you can access the back of the Fog light switch where the wiring harness is located. Several wires are connected to the switch. I was able to find the input wire (bright yellow wire) from the headlight input (it is only 'live' when the parking lights or headlights are on).
I figured that if I bridged a 'live' wire to the input socket of this yellow wire at the back of the switch, then I could 'trick' the switch into thinking that the headlights were on (when in fact they weren't, the headlight switch was in the 'off' position), and then the Fog lights could be switched on (without the headlights being on).
Well it sort of worked. When I turned on the ignition to standby with the 'bridge' wire in place, the Fog lights did come on (without the headlights being on), but the Fog light switch itself did not work; the Fog lights could not be turned off while the 'bridge' wire was in place.
Anyone out there with the electrical knowhow of how to proceed from here?
