02 Santa Fe back hatch

The icon on my dash tells me that my back hatch is open yet I've checked it to be closed. Is there a sensor of sort to check to see if it's malfunctioning or where it is to replace? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum

I think the Santa Fe has two sensors (or more accurately, micro switches). One on the tailgate latch and another on the latch for the tailgate glass.

I've attempted to check a part list on a couple websites, I cannot find the specific part. Is it incorporated in the latch or a specific part?

No location called in profile,, and no "DRIVES" profile info,,,,, so I'll wing it with a 2.7L SM USA chassis and according to Hyundai Service site ETM,, the tail gate switch is an integrated part of the latch assembly

<--- Please fill in the 'location' and 'what you drive(year & chassis) and engine size' boxes on your personal profile page.
