Having my private mechanic change the 2 belts on my 2004 Santa Fe 3.5L
Does it make any difference where I get the belts or do you recommend the dealer, only?
Dealer be better choice... 3.5L had an alternator change, and require shorter belt from certain prodution date, unless alternator replace while in service with new style part..
Hyundai supplied belt will be specified length as spec'd to supplier.. part store belt most time tend to be a shade long, and adjustment ability is lost later down the road..
If you doing drive belts,, best to install when re-assemble timing belt replace, only cost is 2 belt, gotta put something back on when assemble.. That saves you some $70-100 labor.. silliy to pay for drive belt replace,, then do timing belt next week..
Thanks..i will get the 2 belts at the dealer.
Had the timing belt changed about 40k ago...
