First time post here though I think I've now read at least 100 pages of threads in this sub-forum.
Allow me a vent please but I took my recently acquired 2005 Santy for its 90,000 km service today and after being asked for $2,500 ish (in the US thats about... well about... $2,500 ish too!) I am in awe of the Hyundai dealers ability to spend money.
The car itself has not reached 90k (its about 74k) and has apparently been well maintained by its first owner but having bought a warranty too I wanted to give the car it's big one at the dealer and I asked them to put in a new water pump while they had it within reach.
Holy crap... the timing belt, just the belt now..., without the labour cost... is like $300
WTF? Similar price for the pump? They didn't even change the spark plugs as apparantly only platinum ones need to be changed at 90k, the standard ones can wait until 105k?! Didn't change the fuel filter either as that can wait too?
After a little argument as to how many hours labour could possibly have gone into the job they reduced the price to more like $2000. Apparently I was lucky to get it reduced to that!
I love the car but jeez, getting an average of 16 litres per 100kms and the cost of parts/servicing I'm starting to get sheepish.
Anyways, any comments gratefully received, in the meantime thanks for letting me rant.
