My speedometer decided to quit working this morning. The odometer is lit up but its not adding miles as I drive. Has anyone encountered this problem?

i had the same with my pos santa fe. its the speed sensor. the one that is on top of the tranny! they replaced it 4 times before getting it right lmao cost me 250 bucks grrrrrrr

Definitely a speed sensor failure and as drathreon said, it should be on top of the transmission.

Sounds complicated to do myself or expensive to have done...any ballpark on what it will cost?

The output and input speed sensors seem to only cause harsh auto changes, I was given a speed sensor with my 2002 2.4 lt V6
auto and it looks nothing like those others.
So there must be another sensor, have had no joy from anyone as yet.
