I have an 02 Santa Fe and my hood release is broken. I just need to know if there is any way at all to open it??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Even a schematic of how it works would help me, but i cant find one online. oh and i can't use pliers because its not broken that i can see... i believe its either broken higher up or unattached if thats possible.......

Wow, that really sucks.
I never had that happen to me.
I made some pix of my hood mechanism.
There is a plastic shroud around it and I then removed it.
Nothing was apparent to me how to release easily.
Is the hood release broke in the passenger compartment or at the hood latch itself.
I made one pix showing how the cable routes along the driver side that you be able to reach.
Please let us know how you resolve.
Interesting problem.
Hope the pix help.
Best of luck

Wow....Thank you so much. I will definately let you know how I get on....I'm not sure if I can but I'm going to try to pry that bottom latch up with a screwdriver through the grill. The pulley cord is detached up in the hood because I can hear it clicking in there. Again thank you so so much the pics at least let me know what I am working with!!

I would try pulling the hood release inside the car while having someone pushing down on the hood at the same time. The release mechanism may be just a bit dirty (rust and such) and is stickey. Even try tapping the hood with the palm of you hand while having the release leaver pulled inside. If this works then lubricate well with 3 & 1 oil until mechanism if free. Lots of luck?
