Block heater problem:

First, I'd like to say HELLO to everyone, I'm pretty new to this forum and thi is my first post.

I have a problem with my Santa Fe - winter is coming soon in Alberta and I need to install a block heater.
I checked a dealership and the price "killed" my good intentions: the block heater itself is $50, but to install it is $375!
Has anyone installed sunch a thing, is it really taking about 3.5 to 4 labour hours? I would like to install it myself.

the block heater is more then likely installed on the back of the block. and since you have AWD then it's a pain to get to from the bottom. I would do it from the top and Maybe remove the intake manifold for better view with a mirror. If you know where it bolts up to then I would say do it yourself and remember to top off the coolant as it will spill. But actually I've never installed one.
