Base model Sonata can be had for around $18,000 (includes freight). That's pretty cheap considering I bought a 2000 base Sonata for around $16000 almost 15 years ago.

Try unplugging the TPS and see if it smooths out. If it does, and you replaced the TPS, then you've got a bad TPS wiring harness.
