Can anyone help me with a problem I have with the PART NUMBER of the Alternator fitted to the 2.5TD Galloper please. I have the HYUNDAI part number and can get an Alternator from Korea (FourGreenAuto), but I am trying to get an equivalent one in the UK as I know the Hyundai H100 (van) once sold in the UK has the 2.5 TD D4BF engine fitted and therefore might have the same alternator? I need to know what the part number on the actual alternator is and the manufacturer.........

Best regards,

Alan Clarke

PS....Does anyone still want the Galloper manual in ITALIAN and part of the 2.5TD manual in English? If so e-mail me alanclar@gmail.com

Hi, thanks for that but I already know the Hyundai Part Number for the Alternator, I can get one from Fourgreenauto in Korea. There will be another number on the actual Alternator and the name of the manufacturer. I am offshore at the moment so I cannot look at the alternator on my Galloper. I am trying to see if I can get an Alternator, rectifier assembly, regulator and brushes in the UK?

As a matter of interest i syour parts manual a hard copy or software?

best regards,

Hello,

as i recently have problems with alternator i also did some research.... i finished by buyng a new alternator and now i'm trying to rebuild damaged alternator (damaged alternator has 90Amp while new one only 65...)

manufacturer is DSNB Koreea. on my alternator there is no other number / manufacturer. I have friend in local hyundai workshop who told me tt this factory is supplier only for Hyundai and Kia and th4 there are no other details or equivalence catalogue. so i went with parts i needed to local parts store and by visual comparision +measurement i bought parts i need (rotor collector and brushes).

yu can try at local Mitsubishi (as galloper is 90% pajero/shogun) maybe alternator spares will fit.

here is link for spare catalogue http://www.hyundai-autoclub.ru/techRoom (site is in russian but google translation will do the job).

if yu need further details pls let me know.

best regards,
Daniel

Hi,

Thanks for the information, I am offshore just now so cannot look at the alternator on my 1999 2.5 Turbo Diesel Galloper II. The Galloper II is, unfortunatley, very different to the old Pajero, the Galloper I is nearly identical. A classic example is the front auto/freewheel hubs, I bought a really good set off a guy in Korea fron his Galloper I and they do NOT fit my Galloper II? I also physically compared them to the hub off the classic Pajero and they are a different size!! So I have a very good set of front wheel auto/freewheel drive hubs if you know of anybody that would like to buy them? I can also get a new alternator for around 180 UK pounds from FOURGREENAUTO in Korea which I may well still do. I really only wanted the rectifier assembly, regulator assembly and brushes which are all part of the alternator but they cannot get the rectifier assembly for me? When you said you bought the 'rotor collector; and brushes from a local shop, do you mean you bought the DIODE assembly (the rectifier)? If so, do you have the part number and manufacturer of the bits you got? As a matter of interest, where are you living and what Galloper do you drive? I have the address (web) of the parts catalogue too and it is in English and I also have the parts catalogue as a book also in English. I am offshore just now so don't have access to my Galloper for another week. Thanks again for the information anyway, bye for now.............

Hi, thanks for that, will try again although I have an excellent Illustrated Parts Catalogue 'hard copy' which I bought from FourGreenAuto in Korea and also a downloaded version from an Israeli Pajero/Galloper site (no longer available), so I am pretty much up to speed with parts catalogues. Can you tell me what parts you managed to find for your Alternator, makes, part numbers etc I will probably just buy a new one from Fourgreenauto I think and rebuild my old one. At the moment the battery warning light, brake light and oil lights stay on dim for about 10 minutes then go off, If I stop and swithc off the ignition and then switch straight back on they go off immediately however, If I let it stand for some time the same happens, lights on for 10 minutes then they go off? If the problem was the rectifier (diode) assembly I would have thought the lights would come on and stay on so I have a feeling its the regulator bit of the alternator thats not quite working properly? I am not really sure exactly what puts the charging lights OUT....DO YOU?

Regards,

Alan

Hello Alan,

when i had problems with alternator always solved them by "trial and error". maybe that's why i had so many problems )

for example 1st time when happened it turned-out to be voltage regulator. i found it melted ... don't know why ...
2nd time it turned out to be brushes. 3rd time, a wire inside alternator got lose and voltage climbed to above 16V ... last time rotor colector was worned ...

what i'm trying to say is tt a lot of problems may appear in this alternator and result in turn battery lamp on(from experience battery lamp will always light together with filter lamp). can not corectly diagose alternator problem w/o removing alternator from car and opening it. it make no sense to buy new set of brushes or diodes or other parts when yu don't need them.

sad thing is tt yu can not move car w/o alternator because of vacuum pump. Vacuum pump need lubrication and yu will lose all oil if yu start engine w/o alternator ...

fyi, till now i bought only:
- brushes from BOSCH - based on dimms
- rotor collector - also based on dimmensions. eventually, fitted one from a HITACHI / OPEL ASTRA 1.9 (don't know exact model no)
- other parts based on visual identification ...

also, if yu don't find voltage regulator yu can install a new one (external) from an old car (but this is a bit tricky as yu will need to link 2 extra wire to alternator). if it will be the case i will let yu know how to do it ...

will revert this evening (late) with dims for brushes and rotor collector.

Best regards,
Daniel
