Coolant Bubbing Problem Galloper 2.5TD 2001

I have just bought from Germany and exported to The Gambia a 2001 Galloper Exceed (Mitsubisho Pajero/Shogun made under licence). Drove no problems or overheating Germany to Devon, UK. Full MOT, full service, change of cam-belt etc, before driven across Uk To Tilbury Docks for shipping to The Gambia. Engine overheated twice, with bubbling coolant. Still has same problem of bubbling in AFrica but removed thermostat, flushed system and engine runs smoothly, no overheating, tiny loss of coolant from expansion tank. Very reluctant to remove head as engine so quiet and running perfectly. Any ideas please?
Thanks
Timbo

Sorry to see you are having some problems.

It seems the head gasket is blown. Probably a very little gap but its there. I suggest checking the oil and coolant (water) for oil emulsification (seems like chocolate milk), meaning the coolant and engine oil got mixed with each other. If this happens, its time to replace the head gasket.

Play it safe. Its not funny getting stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by who knows what kind of big hungry cats out there.

Coolant bubbling problem

Thanks Robert
There is no emulsification sign in the engine or oil filler cap, no oil in the radiator water, and no overheating, just heaps of air pressure when running. I agree it looks like head gasket but surely there would be another symptom? The engine runs very smoothly indeed, no knocking sounds etc. Is there anything else worth investigating first?
It seems logical that something the UK mechanic did, or did not do when replacing cam belt etc., has changed/affected something as it drove across Germany and back to UK without a murmur. It had an MOT test so will have been pressure tested - could this have caused a gasket leak or piston liner to crack? If it is the head why does it have no other symptoms?
The bubbling is not small frothy bubbles or fizzing as I have seen on other cars when gasket is gone.
Be pleased to hear your view, am just reluctant at this stage to expensively have head removed, as am now back in the UK...
