I am pretty sure it does not have 1, but would like to confirm that the keys for my 2009 Sonata SE DO NOT have transponder chip in key (for remote starter).

Thanks.

when i was buying mine dealer told me i can cut the key in home depot and it will work so don't think it has a chip, beside that the valet key is just a regular key without black plastic housing and it is working with the car so i would say no chip

No, there is no chip in a Sonata key. The only vehicle Hyundai sells (US) that has a "normal" key (not proximity key) that is chipped is the Azera. They are a serious PITA to get one cut and programmed for a customer.

Surprise surprise is right. My dealer wants $21!!! for a key. And it's not even a factory Hyundai key, it's a knock off (same shape, no logo). You can guess where I told them to stick said key.

timk22 is an unknown quantity at this point
The Entourage also has the immobilizer system with a transponder key..........

My old Ford van had this type of key - could buy one cut at the dealer for $25 - took about 5 seconds to program by myself. Hyundai made this a dealer programming only for some reason and that's where the expense is - unless you have a really nice dealer who will do it at no cost....

Sounds like there must be some NF Sonata somewhere that has an immobilizer. (At least... if my Korean doesn't suck too badly...)
"NF Sonata Immobilizer Key (Main)"
"NF Sonata Immobilizer Key (Sub)"
"NF Key (Standard)"
