Since 2 months driver side door lock actuator wasn't functioning properly.
Today i decided to remove the actuator and attempt to fix it on my own.
I removed the assemble from the car and opened it.
I won't post the procedure to remove the actuator as it is already available.
Observations-
1) It can be disassembled. Just held in place by plastic tabs and locks.
2)Tricky to understand it's functioning at first look. But fairly easy once you get the hang of it. While removing the cover, plastic arm inside the actuator came off. After understanding what each part does, it was fairly easy to grease everything up and assemble it back.
3) Carbon build up inside the DC motor which transforms rotary motion into linear motion. This might be the culprit for the malfunction.
4) Clean the motor with electrical contact cleaner to remove carbon buildup.

I have repaired and replaced those mabuchi motors on several of my vehicle doors. They use this size -- mabuchi fc280pc-22125 just depends how long the shaft is. Most car use 10mm or 20mm shaft like this....... 20mm Long Shaft Car Door Lock Actuator Motor Repair For Lexus Toyota Mabuchi

Most of the time the motor still turns but too weak to move the lock. Hence better to just change the motor. You do need to transfer the old worm gear to the new motor.
