My mechanic managed to break the power steering switch.
He tried to get a replacement from Hyundai and they said that it would take at least 6 weeks to get the part from Korea.
He tried getting a used switch from his usual wrecking yard - to no avail.
He's out of ideas.
So I was wondering is this part common to other Hyundai models ?
I can't even locate the gadget on eBay. There's a gazillion for Ford but nary a one for my little sedan.
There's no rush, the switch housing might be broken but until it disitegrates completely the ECU isn't showing that the power steering has failed

- would a switch for another manufacturer work ?:frown:

I think all the switch does is an idle up when you turn the steering with you foot off the throttle to stop it cutting out when the extra load is applied. If that's the case worst case scenario is it you might just have to have a little throttle on when steering at low speeds which you probably do anyway.
