Need advice with removing a power window regulator on my 09

My driver's side front window regulator cable snapped today. Seems to be a pretty common problem on these cars after doing a search on this forum.

Was trying to take everything apart today only to get stuck with the last step on taking the regulator off the door.
For the life of me i can't figure out how to disconnect the wire connector from the door lock mechanism. Tried for 2 hours and still can't get it off. Tried prying with a screwdriver etc. but it's not coming off. Just can't figure out how it's connected.
Do i really have to take out the door latch/lock and the whole handle to remove the connector that way. Anyone familiar with that?

Also uploaded a couple of pics that show which connector i'm having trouble moving exactly. If anyone here is familiar with it or has any ideas, would greatly appreciate it.

Never mind! I ended up taking off the actuator and handle. And got the plug disconnected that way. All is good now. Just wish there was a simpler plug connector mechanism there that wouldn't force you to take off the whole handle and actuator.

I feel your pain...LOL

It's not the connector that's bad, it's just that they always put the locking tab on the wrong side. If the guys who design these things ever had to take the connector off, they would design it with the locking tab to the inside where you can get at it. It always seems to be right where you can't get to.

Yes, that's it. On that connector you had to pull the tab upward. Usually you have to push it down and pull. But had it been on the other side, things would have been much simpler.
In the end it worked out great as I got to clean and lubricate the actuator and handle.

Always remove exterior door handle module and door latch as an assembly with the door panel...

Note.. when you receive new door panel/regulator from Hyundai in box, the hole in the panel be round, where the previous panel' holes is oval for attaching harness to door panel.. we take die grinder and burr and elongate the holes.. couple box yrs ago new plastics, but not anymore..

Also note -- the door speaker is riveted to panel... Hyundai not include new rivets... if order via part catalog, you get bolts that too big and not suitable for job.. you have to go to hardware and buy rivets.. take speaker with you to size up replacement rivets
