Question Clunk in the front suspension?

I have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.

Any thoughts on this problem.

Hi v33sonata

I tried searching before I posted and again after your response. While there are a ton of threads on suspension noise, none seem to be on point. They all seem to point to upper control arms. You even posted the upper control arms in one thread.

Since I have already replaced the upper control arms about four months ago, I was wondering if anyone had an idea as to what would mimic the thunk previously created by the one very bad control arm.

I seem to remember reading something about the front Sway Bar bushing causing this kind of problem.

Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You got it. Sway bar links. They'll make a nice clunk if you turn the car from left to right very quickly, that'll help diag them.

What exactly is your noise - my upper control arm bushings did more "creaking" rather han distinct clunks.

How old is your strut mount and strut assembly?

it sounds like its most likely your strut mounts. Do a quick visual of both and take a 14mm wrench to the top nut like your going to tighten the strut does it move around easy? is the strut off center? but sounds like a bad mount to me...

Everything is original except for the upper control arms (63000 miles). The noise is thunk or clunk only noticeable when going slow and over a bump like a speed bump in a parking lot.

Like I said , I only hear the noise when going slow over a speed bump. Too much road noise when going fast to hear it. So far, I have one of each of the front end parts to check.

Thanks

yeah... its most likely your strut mounts as i mentioned before control arm bushings will make more of a creaking noise.
