Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone here replaced a wheel hub assembly before and can give me some advice.

I have a 2007 Sonata GLS and my Right Rear bearing is going. I bought another one and when trying to remove the old one I just can't seem to get it off. Judging by the replacement part I have it seems like it just slips on and held on by 4 bolts. Well I removed the brakes and rotor and the 4 bolts that seem to be holding the hub assembly on but it won't come off.

Is it just corrosion and I have to keep beating on it, like you have to with some rotors?

Thanks

Rust is a wonderfull thing.. take big hammer and WHACK the flange at 12,, 3,, and 9 to knock it loose of it' grip.

2006 GLS and my rear driver side is gone. Does anyone have a link to where I can purchase the correct wheel hub for cheaper than 60 bucks? It seems that rock-auto only has the left-rear hubs with the ABS..... :/

On my 2009 Sonata I had a right rear caliper freeze a few months back and smoked the brakes. Now my bearing is starting to go. Are any bearings better than others, I have seen prices from 99-200 dollars US. It seems like it is the entire hub. Also, if the bearing/hub is being replaced should the rotor too?

See if they tell you what the actual bearing itself is.

I try to use Timkens because they have been good in the past. A lot of the bearings sold at CarQuest used to be Timkens.

After much research I ordered a Timken from Autozone online. They have the old Part# that starts with letters and the new part#. The old part# is a lot less than the new part number and throw a 20% online discount plus 10 dollar gift card. It is a sweet deal. I did online chat and they assured me it was Timken and not the Moog replacement. I will wait and see. If it is Moog I guess I will take it back. Hopefully the quality is the same. between the old part# and the new part#.

Timkens have historically been good bearings. Most Toyotas I have had have had Timkens from the factory. Most cars I never had to replace a bearing; only on one old Celica I bought did I have to replace the fronts, but they were separate bearings (RWD)

Did you ultimately get it off by beating it? I also have an '07 Sonata GLS and I've been alternating heat and penetrating oil and whacking with a 12# sledge most of the day with 0 movement. Do I need to exercise more patience or is it time to give up and take to a professional? Thanks!

I resently replaced all my shocks, strats and coil springs myself. It was a BIG job, took me a day and a half. In the front I removed the whole hub..brake assembly..steering assembly. Some told me to hammer the hub off the drive shafts.
Well it didnt work! Rust on the drive shaft was the main problem.
Get or rent a three prong puller. No need to use any hammers. With PB braster and the puller is was very easy to remove the hub.
Try that.....it works!!!

BTW, Sonata suspension is too soft. The Koni shocks and Eibach springs are awesome!!!!
It feels like a new car.
