So I just received a notice from the Hyundai OCS Class Action Center, concerning the Occupant Classification System (OCS) problems with the 2006-08 Sonata, 2006-09 Azera, & 2007-09 Santa Fe, and what they are doing to solve the issue. The jist of the notice is that if you had the OCS calibration done, and are still not satisfied, and can produce a person who is at least 16yrs old and weighs at least 108lbs who has been a passenger in your vehicle and the OCS did not classify them correctly, then Hyundai may offer to refund the purchase price of your vehicle. Hyundai may also offer to exchange, and at your option will exchange, your vehicle for another Hyundai vehicle. Any offer to refund the purchase price or exchange your vehicle will be subject to:
* A mileage offset according to the vehicle's mileage on the date of the offer, based on a 120,000 mile vehicle lifespan; and
* Vehicle damage other than ordinary wear.
There are more details to this, so go click the link above. I have noticed my OCS doesn't always work correctly, and I just spoke to the previous owner of my vehicle and they stated that they never received the OCS recalibration recall notice Hyundai states they mailed out in 2008. So I am thinking of taking my car in now for the recalibration, and if still not happy, taking Hyundai up on their offer to exchange my vehicle for another, especially since my vehicle has relatively low miles for it's year.
Anyone else thinking about doing this? Any pro's and con's you can think of about this offer? I mean, besides giving up our wonderful V6 for a 4 cylinder?
Thanks for your input guys.
