*HELP* Brake lights stopped working

Hey guys, I have an '07 Hyundai Sonata (4 cylinder) with the sunroof and XM.
Yesterday, someone nearly hit me with their car and told me that my brake lights stopped working. I went home and tested it out and it doesn't seem to work at all. (The third brake light died out a week ago). I checked fuses and they seemed to be okay, tried replacing them with spare ones and still doesn't work (My old rover always had fuse problems). Bulbs look fine and they're definitely not burned out. Did some searches online and found that there was a recall for this in the U.S. (I'm in Canada by the way) and there doesn't seem to be a recall for it in Canada. I also tried going to the dealer and they told me that there are no outstanding recalls for my vehicle.

Any solutions?

Seems simple enough, sign up for free at hmaservice.com and under your vehicle model/year -> Brake System -> Brake Pedal you will see the component list and repair procedures for the brake pedal and how to check the stop lamp switch.

Very simple circuit to test.. basic electrical 101

Jump terminals 1 & 2 together, and look at the brake lights.. they on ??

If yes, replace the brake light switch.. we keep a big box of them on hand at all times.. Hyundai price retail in USA is $5... I can replace it in maybe 2 minutes.

There was a recall on brake light switch? you should talk to your dealer.

No. For rust that may affect the electrical components cause the rear brake light to malfunction. I'm quite i mentioned it in the OP but the dealer stated that there is no outstanding recall on my vehicle. As well, the recall was only useful in the U.S. I just bought the brake switch and connected it and it's still a no go.
the bulbs look fine (and it would be a coincidence that both happen to die out) but i'll go and replace them and see if that'll help.
