Hey everyone my name is Kyle and I am new to this forum, I just made an account today. I was searching through the pages for something on replacing my driver door handle on my 2007 Sonata that broke off for no apparent reason. I got in the car this morning and *snap*. Now I have changed a door handle before, but when I took off the door panel to this Sonata I was greeted with another steel panel, and a small whole a child would have trouble getting their hand in, Can anyone help, or explain how I can get to the actual door handle, I don't seem to be able to access the exterior door handle from the inside..Any other car I've see just has plastic covering the inside of the panel, and big wholes so you can see/work in there. Can any one help? Please and thank you.

Exterior door handle is maybe 5 minute job..

Yes, I pulled it this morning, and the right side, (the part by the lock) just ripped out, the left side is still attached, I've already removed the inner door panel, but as I said there is a solid steel barrier between myself and the mechanism - but yes it is the exterior painted door handle.

Look at door in the jamb section.... you'll see a black plastic cap... remove that cap.

Use proper tool to remove the screw, DONT DROP the screw inside the door, or you will be going inside door to recover your dropped screw..

Wiggle the short end cap off the door.. now grab the door handle and slide rearward and out of door,, since it is borken, should recover 2 pieces.

Oh wonderful, that one bolt in there will allow me to remove the entire handle? Even the left side of it opposite of the actual key lock? My socket set doesn't fit that, so I'll have to run down to the store. Once I've got it out putting in the new one is as easy as putting it an and replacing the bolt to hold it, correct? Thanks for all your help guys. I'm a bit busy this afternoon so I may not reply again today, but if not tonight than tomorrow I will be letting you all know how it came out. I can't believe you gave me pictures! Whoa, thanks a lot. Again I cant do anything about it, as I don't have the right size for that bolt in there, but I'll try to get to it tonight or tomorrow thanks so much SBR. Looking forward to talking to all of you soon.

As posted, bolt holds end cap.. the end cap on driver door and passenger door pretty much pull straight off..

I am at home, and have a painted pic on home PC to be posted for you to reference on how the stuff comes off.... click the pic to enlarge and view the words.

Hey everyone, I haven't had any luck finding a handle at a junkyard or some where else second hand, I was thinking of putting the back one on the front. Anyway I'm in a hurry I'm sorry about getting back to you all so late, Comcast was just out for a week, internet and cable. All I got was a couple hundred dollars credit.... I'll be snooping around on the forums, nice to meet you guys.
