My husband and I just purchased a 2007 Hyundai Sonata v6 with about 58k miles on it. Before purchasing it, we took it by Pep Boys to get it looked over and check for anything we might need to get repaired. We were told that the right valve cover gasket needed to be repaced. After we drove our new car home and took it to the Pep Boys in our town, we were told that the left valve cover gasket also needs to be replaced. My question is about the huge difference in the labor we are being charged for the two gaskets. The labor on the left one is $66, but for the right is $229. We were told that this is because the right one is much harder to get to and will take much more time. Does anyone know if that is true? We already found some extra charges on our estimate for some other things, which has made me extremely suspicious about everything they are charging us for. I don't know anything about cars, so I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me in uncomplicated terms.
|you should also consider maybe checking the front & rear spark plugs and maybe replacing them, should be done about every 30k or 40K miles, just a reminder.|
