custom dyno tune
Im waiting on my ecu right now, but I was wondering if anyone knows any places doing custom dyno tunes in or near NYC? I bought my ecu from sfr and I was going to use them, but they are very unprofessional: not responding back to emails, arent competent in the products they sell no answer when you call ect. if this is how they work I have no use for them. I would appreciate if someone could help me out thanx

That, and at least because I've already paid for it and contributed so much to PowerAxel already...it's only a matter of time before they or whomever ends up cracking the ECU and eliminating this problem...and at least I know I'll be one of the first to get it, sorta thing.
I really hope that it's only the boost level that's being changed...
I'm sure it's a possibility though that the car might put itself into limp mode once it realizes that it can't or isn't able to effectively lower the boost back to stock....that's assuming the boost controller does ITS job and increases the boost to my desired 22psi level. lol
Should be fun to try out, though! I'm not terribly efficient with the AEM TruBoost controller, but it's got some nice features like it will record the highest boost level detected, and you can see an alarm to make the gauge flash at you if it goes OVER a specified boost level.
I'll probably have my local shop help me with the actual settings on the boost controller. Would probably be good to try and have the boost-tuning done in conjunction with the dyno runs after I do the test-pipe..

Track times are all that matter.
I hate it for you yosh because you stuck your neck out on this one but judging from your other cars you use to this stuff.
In my opinion adding a boost controller will overide the ecus control but force it to put you in limp mode.

Now, before everyone says "Well, what's the point of buying the PowerAxel tune?" let me make some things clear.
1.) The standard PA tune sets your boost TO 18psi, so unless someone can prove otherwise through methods such as mine, then I would say that my "detuning" issue isn't NECESSAIRLY appplicable to the STANDARD PowerAxel tune that is offered. My tune is set to 20+psi and the ECU is downgrading to 18psi. The PowerAxel STANDARD tune runs 18psi, so my particular dilemma may not apply to the standard PA tune buyers...though, I've heard from a few other folks WITH the standard tune that they feel the car get slower over time as well...So the concern IS still valid..
2.) With all that said however, when I dyno my car and I can compare what the "detuned" version of my tune is versus a straight-up FACTORY tune....then I can confirm with certainty whether the PowerAxel tune becomes COMPLETELY negated by the ECU...or if the ECU simply decreases the gains made by the tune.

Recorded my drive to work today w/ the "Rev" iPhone app....
Car is already back to ~18psi after only 2 days.
Suspicions confirmed, gentlemen...The car is 100% de-tuning itself. To what extent, I
don't know...but I can at least confirm that it IS dropping the boost back to factory
I am debating on using my lefover AEM TruBoost electronic boost controller from my
RX-8, and see if somehow I can get the boost controller to override the car's
electronic wastegate controller...haha
Dunno when I'll get around to it, but it would be fun to try! lol

|Variansyn||I hope this gets figured out soon in concerns to the ECU. I'm starting to wonder which will happen first, this get cracked ; or a powerFC.|

It would be interesting to see how long it takes the factory ecu to detune itself. I wonder if it's a milage thing or # of starts?
How often do you figure you'll have to reload your tune to see full power? Weekly monthly? Every other day?
Also I wonder how far the factory ecu will detune? Like back to stock levels or what?
This sucks because I know I will be adding power mods, and I will see benefit with them, but for how long is anyones guess. Darn you Hyundai!

With my dyno plan, we'll be able to see how much power my bolt-on upgrades made by themselves BEFORE the PowerAxel tune.

|jasen1||I think you have confirmed speculation by your previous posts. The question will be what did your mods add to the stock level? FMIC, Intake, and charge pipe if I am correct?|
