I have never had this issue in a car before. I clean the inside of the windshiled and within a couple of weeks the inside is disgusting again. Nobody smokes in the car so I know that is not it. Have a 2009 Tundra and a 2008 Accent and neither of these have the same problem. When the car was new I thought maybe it was the off gassing of all the plastic but the car is 1.5 years old and it still does it. Even when the cabin filter is replaced it does this, so not a dirty cabin filter.
Anyone else have this issue or if you did, how did you fix it. Is it just the car?
It's likely coming from the dash. As it sits in the sunlight, the vinyl/plastic gives off some fumes (harmless to humans) but makes a greasy mess on the windshield. I use a microfiber towel and Windex with ammonia. To make the job easier, I cut down the handle on one of those swiffer pad thingys and I wrap the microfiber towels around the pad. It works like a charm. Makes reaching to the front edge of the glass a snap. Use lots of Windex (make a mess!) and follow it up with a dry microfiber towel. Usually does the trick for me. Good luck.
Thanks everyone. It seems to be a common problem. I have been using Invisible Glass Cleaner and it works well to clean but the windshield is always dirty again in 2 weeks or so. Guess I have to just deal with it and clean it often.
Micro fiber .1 wet...1 dry does it for me. Seems to handle the film better than paper towels. Then as the days pass, touch up with dry micro fiber. Can get the inside like hand wash places.
2-3 cleanings in one session. That's allot of elbow grease happening there !
Ever see windshields that look like garbage or butter was smeared on them. Unacceptable !
Ever see cars with big blobs of bird information on windshield or paint. Not tolerated ! Lol
I had this problem and read online that armor all and other dash protestants like it cause hazing of the front windshield. Problem went away when I stopped using the stuff. I clean the inside of the window only 3 times a year.
I don't use dash protectants like Armorall. I have also read that these dry out the dash and cause it to crack. Have never used them and so far, knock on wood, never had a cracked dash.
I've noticed that all the windows in my E, including the rear and sides, fog up over time. With my previous cars, I'd use a window cleaner's strip washer and squeegee on the insides and that worked well. But, with the angle of the windshield and rear window, that's not an option. I like the idea of using the Swiffer with microfiber cloths, and will try that next.
I've always had the glass fog problem in cars I've owned. It has to be caused by some out-gassing of the vinyl used extensively in car interiors. Heat definitely seems to be the catalyst as the problem always gets worse in the summer.

Good point Bob. Thinking back, I have to say that typically I do not give the inside of the glass a swipe through the winter. Maybe an occasional touch up with a dry MF cloth. Most, if not all, of the interior glass cleaning seems to be a result of the summer sun cooking the dash.
Do you use the recirculate or the fresh air option when using the a/c? Keeping the outside air out can cause that to happen because the air can get stale after a while and adhere to the the windows creating a film. This is very true.
I always use recirc when using the A/C once the temp has cooled down and it makes no difference on how quickly my windshield gets hazy. Using recirculate when it's hot the car and cold outside will cause it to fog up but most of the haze on the glass is caused by modern plastics off-gassing. Now how hot it gets inside when I park the car at work seems to have a marked effect on how quickly it hazes up.
Try using a windshield sun shield when parked, even in winter, even at night. It should keep the contaminants off much longer. Maybe a dash mat would help too. I can't say I've experienced this level of hazing in either Sedan or GT. I guess the auto-defog works well.
