Condensation Issues

I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra GLS, and I've noticed in the morning when I go to start my car that there is crazy amounts of condensation on my windows. I know it's winter and the weather is cold, so condensation is normal, but I leave my house for work before any neighbors do and none of them ever have this issue while my windows are completely opaque with condensation or frost - if its cold enough - on the INSIDE of the car.

I went to have it washed and waxed today as promised because it looked filthy and the windows had water marks everywhere, and to my dismay when I was cleaning the windows all the watermarks were from the inside. I've detailed a few cars back in my day and I've never had this issue before. My windows are always closed completely overnight. Ventilation issue or seal issue? something?

Thanks.

I was online searching about condensation issues on the Elantras and came across this forum. I have a 2013 Elantra and am having very similar issues. I don't have fog build up while the car is off, but when I turn it on and start driving with the heat on, the windows all fog up, starting with the windshield working it's way to the back and rear window. I find that using the heat is the culprit and am constantly running the windshield defogger. Took it tothe dealer and they looked at me like I was over reacting and they said they checked the car and can't find anything. They told me that running the defogger constantly is not uncommon -- not sure if I believe that. Don't have any visible moisture issues, car mats are dry. I've owned many other cars and never had this problem. Starting to get very frustrated with this car! Good thing I have the heated seats because I sure can't use the heat to it's full capacity. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone with this issue.....wondering there's an engineering flaw with the car and if it's too airtight?
Any help is appreciated :)

Honestly, here in rainy Oregon, it's perfectly normal for me to run my defogger constantly. Try running your air conditioner while the heat is on; that will suck the moisture out of the air. It was normal for my windows to fog up in the Elantra when first starting up, especially if the AC wasn't on.

Either way, though, you weren't crazy for going to get it checked out. You definitely want to make sure nothing is leaking. :)

I'm hoping the little bit of standing water on the floor mat is the cause.
This is an "uneducated guess," at best. But, I would definitely say you've hit on a "probable cause" at play, here.

Let's review: warm air inside the cabin, melted snow/water on the mats. Engine shuts down, doors close, cabin cools, condensation in the air. Hmm...
