Anyone Had Issues with their Push Button Start??

Last night, driving home my week old 2012 Elantra Limited I stopped the car for a moment to pick something up. When I went to start my car via my push button start, it would NOT start up for like 10 mins?!! Seemed to not read/sensor that my keys were in the car. I tried about every minute to "get it to start up" with no luck??
Lighting in the car would come on, including Nav screen just couldnt get the engine to start. The key display is what kept lighting up. I was like, the keys are right here!!! LOL
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned? I've only had my car for 6 days.

Thanks for your replies!!!

Are you pushing the button long enough? Could be a bad battery in the key fob?

Keep in mind that you also must have your foot on the brake pedal, too. I don't have the push-button in my Limited, but the Genesis Coupe does and when I first started driving it, I would forget this.

I agree with others comments......
Replace the battery in the remote fob just in case then see if it happens again.

We've had absolutely no issues with the PBS system.....works great.
In fact, we've had zero complaints/issues with the car's operation so far.

Hope I didn't just jinx us...

To All, I will try replacing the battery in remote.
I am definitly pressing the brake down while pushing the start button. The brake seemed to go into a lock mode as well, not allowing me to push down the brake pedal all the way as it does when the ignition turns on.

Since a couple days ago, it has happened twice. Randomly this was my technique and it has worked??? I have opened the car door again, as if just getting into the car...waited a moment and pushed on brake while pressing the push button start, and then it starts up normally.
It really just seems as if the car has not recognized the "key remote " is INSIDE the car, like a SAFETY mode.
