|When in operation, the fog lights consume large amounts of vehicle electrical power. Only use the fog lights when visibility is poor or unnecessary battery and generator drain could occur.|
Why would you want to disable this?
The other night, I saw a brand-new Kia Forte driving around in the dark with no lights. Even though the street was brightly lit, I could barely see the car. Surprised it didn't have the daytime lights feature. Dangerous! Once in a while I'll forget to turn on my lights right away when I am in a lit parking lot...these lights really help make me more visible.
It's a safety feature. In Canada, DRL's are mandatory, and it is illegal to drive without them activated.
I would be happy with the fact that your new Elantra comes with a safety feature which makes you more visible on the road, and thus less likely to be involved in an accident.
