Mysterious White Vapor

My 2012 Elantra (118,000 KM) was making some intermittent engine noise when accelerating. I was idling in the garage and revved the engine a few times to see if I could hear the noise. All of a sudden there was a loud pssshhht noise, similar to opening a bottle of coke that has been shaken, only times louder and a white vapor, smoke came out of the engine area.
I had the car taken to the dealer. They checked it out and could find nothing wrong - readings, fluid levels, etc. The car has never shown overheating.

Any ideas?

Get a new dealer?

Possibles: Blown head gasket (pretty rare on a Hyundai), bad/clogged radiator, overflow bottle, AC condenser, AC receiver/dryer, AC pressure hose. Of course, on the latter, the AC would not work.

It could be a pressure release caused by the fan not working. The fan should come on when the AC is turned on. Maybe the noise was the fan hitting something. The AC may still work after a pressure release although not as well.
