AEM cai vs K&N cai

Which is better and why? Looking at purchasing one for my '14 GLS coupe. Price wise the AEM is more affordable. Also has the oil-less filter. But K&N is 100% guaranteed to not void warranty. I am not clear on if the AEM is? K&N also actually uses the cold air intake vent that the OEM one uses. But it does use the oily filter. I just purchased a drop in K&N filter but am returning it. I noticed no gains in MPG or any sort of added "throttle response and a more aggressive engine sound" I have not researched any other intakes. Possibly a Weapon R is a potential purchase? Thanks.

Have you checked Injen? I know Injen use to make the 1.8L and 2.0L cai for our cars. Personally I would go with AEM over K&N but thats my preference. Both aren't really CAI but more of a SRI unless you can route it downward to get more cold air.

If you're going to go with BCP just stick with MST.

For the installation mine was a PITA since I routed mine down underneath my headlight. Had to take off the front bumper for the installation.

That I wouldn't know. You probably have to test fit. I wouldn't see why they won't thought since they were the same intake if I remember correctly.

I have the K&N Typhoon intake on my 2014 SE and it's perfect. In the instructions, it states the intake will work on the 1.8 and the 2.0 because they both use the same throttle body specs (thanks, Hyundai). The instructions also showed a Dyno sheet. The nice thing about K&N is they never create products unless they are guaranteed to increase HP; which the intake does by 5 HP. You can't feel it, at all, but it sounds really cool when you floor it. Also, the heat shield that comes with it does the job extremely well. When I lift the hood and feel the engine bay, everything to the left of the intake is hot and putting your hand by the intake is nice and cool. Do I think it's worth the $300 though? No. Unless you consider the amount of compliments you get, then it's kind of worth it. Anything performance wise done to our cars is kind of a waste of money. I'm going to be purchasing the turbo kit from Boostec soon, which may be the only source for ACTUAL performance gains. But even then, I'm sure I'd still get **** on by a Focus ST or something. We'll see.

Ya I've had the typhoon on for a week or so now. My kpg went from 10.0 to 8.0 for some reason. Mind you I have been on winter tires and there is no snow right now.. I dunno. The sound of the thing is only heard if I punch it and revs past 4k. Other than that the sound is just ok. Performance I didn't really notice a thing except accelerating is a bit smoother. I paid $260cdn tho so I didn't hurt the bank as much as the tag of $329usd on the k&n site... Meh it is an ok mod.. Might just add a decent flowing muffler then thats it for me. I just wanted a deep sounding car with a bit of pick up.. Mine is the 2.0L GLS coupe.. 6spd shiftronic tho..
