My car decided to start chugging while driving around town and got worse on the highway. The check engine light came on.....right as we were passing the local Hyundai dealer. Of course. It was chugging so bad I thought it was going to die in the middle of the highway, so I reluctantly pulled over.
They said the upstream O2 sensor failed and needed replacing. I can't afford the hundreds of dollars they would charge for the part and labor, so decided to see if we could do it ourselves. We found the sensor but cannot figure out how to disconnect it. There's nothing on Youtube. There's nothing on Google. It's all for older Elantras. I don't want to break the sensor and then have to eat crow and go back to the dealer to fix everything.
It's a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited 1.8 Liter 4 Cylinder.
Thank you for any suggestions.
