Long story short.
At 1000 miles one tire was found to be defective. Conti Procontact.
Dealer pointed out Hyundai does not cover the tires, go to a Continental dealer. In the end pro rated for 50% cost me $
Now the car pulls and when the steering wheel is straight the car car does not drive straight, two different issues.
Dealer claims tires need to be rotated and alignment may not be covered. Also it maybe another defective tire. Seems to me all of this should not cost me anything. It is at the dealership today and if I get a bill I will call Hyundai.
Anyone have this type of issue with the warranty?
What I learned.
Alignment is not automatically a warranty issue. See my above post. Drifting due to radial pull is not covered and can be corrected by rotating tires, which is not covered by warranty.
The real numbers for the 2011 Elantra are below. The dealer got them withing the range and the car seems ok, but the real test will be when more miles can be put on it.
Front -0.5 ± 0.5° [b]<-- Thats what I said
Rear -1.5 ± 0.5° [b]<-- I thinks I posted -0.5,,, -1.5 or more will just toast the rears
Front 4.10 ± 0.5° [b]<-- Run what you got, as long as no excess spread, all is well
Front 0.12 ± 0.2° [b]<--- weee bit too much for me,, prefer a little straighter,, I posted +0.08 total
Rear 0.50 ± 0.30° [b]<--- Tell me you aint serious here,,, Toyota pulled similar stunt in the '90s... tires were trash in matter of miles.. WAY TOO MUCH TOE.. I always set them for NO MORE THAN +0.08 +/- 0.02 total at rear..
Front 0.06 ± 0.1° [b]<--- I can live with that, but ideally prefer less toe though
Rear 0.25 ± 0.15° [b]<--- HAHAHAHAHA,, whos buying the tires
SBR: Where does it say this? I'd like to get mine checked out...
[b]Warranty align covered automatically in the 12/12 adjustment period..
I'd like to see where it's in print before I go in and they try to charge me for it....
