Engine swap

What do you guys think about a 2.0T swap for 2009 Accent?? I'm not sure what year engine and what car to pull it from. I just wanna know the relative cost of doing it, good idea, bad idea, a little knowledge from other people would help, and experiences.

Thanks...JM

Use the search. There are a couple threads about engine swapping. I believe the "Beta" swap came up a few times. However, that is far more engine than the suspension can handle.

Do you know any satisfying profanity?!

You have the money you can literally swap anything into anything. lol But in all seriousness don't bother unless you're doing all the work yourself because then it can be a fairly simply project. Few have done it, even fewer have kept upn with it hence why I decided a few months back to walk away. My car isn't swapped but short of forced induction I've done all I could and have spent three times the cars worth doing it. lol I'm buying a Focus ST or RS in a few years or something similar.

Oh and yes the suspension can barely handle what I'm pushing now (torque steers pretty bad) and I'm well under 200 hp, I can't imagine anything in the 250/300 range, you'd die with the stock setup period! lol

I'm with the others. This is a mildly peppy grocery getter. You can do so little things to make it scoot along a little better but it was never intended to be a street rod. Enjoy it's relative zippiness but I honestly don't see these cars as being worth sinking a fortune in performance gear into. Spend some money, enjoy the car. If you want a pocket rocket it would be cheaper, safer and more fun to buy one.

Buddy of mine had an insane 350 in his Vega, it literally twisted the car to the point one wheel was off the ground " and you could rock the car by pushing done on a corner. It got a little scary to drive after that.

HAHAHAHA! When I lived in Pittsfield MA a guy told me about 2 Vegas, on was done right, the other the guy just put the engine in. I saw them both on Main St one day, and there was a big rotary in the middle. The wagon was done right and easily took the rotary like a small corner. The fastback made it, but with plenty of tire squealing and bouncing up and down at both ends!

Now, that's extreme. I agree with the OP, this would make a neat boy racer, but the $$$$ required you could buy another car with a better starting point.

At this point the car is worth $4-5500, about what it would cost to do it correctly. Still, if you live in an area with no salt and no rust, it could be an interesting project.

Just don't expect to have a Hachiroku when you're done.

BTW, what ever happened to that guy that had his all torn down and was going to put a massive turbo on it? He was showing pictures along the way but then everything went quiet...

Do you know any satisfying profanity?!

Any beta 2 will work. The wiring would be the hard part. I think I spend roughly under 1500 for the swap but I did all the labor my self.

Just picked up a 2010 Kia Forte for the wife. It has 41k miles on it. Got to say if you can get that motor in the accent it will be a little speed demon lol
