So since I bought Eleanor I'm gearing up for a busy summer. The goal: To convert my standard sport Accent into the SR version my friend Mike use to own that is exclusive to Canada. Now I may have to change a few things for either preference or availability of parts. This is what his looked like;

I fell in love with his car and since he recently got rid of it I decided now is the time to resurrect a beauty! lol Step 1.... buy the car....

In a few weeks I'll be installing a brand new cat back exhaust that will mimic this:

SR Exhaust

But me deeper like my Elantra:

Exhaust 1

and look more like this:

Dual Set Up

I should be able to get my Tint done this weekend (same as my Lantra as well, 35% front, 15% rear), and the weekend I do the exhaust (two weeks later) I'll be also tackling the HID's and most likely something else, and then every month after that (including ground effects kit) from eBay.

Some parts will be frackin' hard to find and that's where you fine people come in. :D Any help you can offer me via links, friends or attic :p I would appreciate. It'll be a long road but I can't wait. I plan on buying another Accent (or better, any advise? lol) engine for when this one inevitably dies on me. Here's my list in a sort of order of operations....

Tint
HID's
Exhaust
Headers/High Flow Cats
Lowering Springs
Rims (maybe, I actually love the stock ones, plus they're nitrogen! hehe)
Ground Effects Kit (Must find FLAAAAREEESSSS!)
Complete Audio Overhaul
Complete LED conversion

I also finally got my Bluetooth OBDII adapter from Korea (It's designed for Hyundai's Specifically) and for now I'm monitoring my Accent via my S4 like bellow;

It's very accurate and looks d4mn cool. I found a great little wallpaper that lloks like our faux leather dashes. hehe Anyhoo I'll be grabbing a Samsung 7" and retrofitting it for permanent placement in the car.

What do you guys think? Any ideas? I'm open to trying anything and money isn't too much of an issue, since I've done a lot to Black Mamba it's time to put my cash to Eleanor for a few months, but I need to finish all these mods by the Winter cause I'll be parking her at my cottage until the next summer. Any ideas are welcome, might as well, I don't want to ever run our of things to do to her <------ Yes that sounded wrong....yet so right.....

I'll be updating this often. Thanks for reading all! :D

I hear ya same here. If I can't find then I'll have to get them fabricated which luckily for me wouldn't be that expensive but more so than just finding the original ones. lol This will definitely be a fun project.

I should also mention I'll be replacing pretty much everything on this car. Once completed it'll be basically a brand spanking new car again. The engines I've seen all have less than 30,000 miles on them. When I do paint her I'm not sure if I'll stay with the grey or go black like my Elantra. My gf drives her now and it would be cool for both of us to have matching rides. Yeah sorry we're that couple. Come on! You don't think it would be cool to show up to a meet, matching HID's and exhaust sounds, revving as we pull up? Okay maybe watched TFATF one too many times. Lol But don't judge, it's not everyday you find a girl that lives cars as much as you do and drives stick better than any woman I know... (Yes I realize this sounds like a euphemism.... Bah never mind!) :D

Got the HID's in today. Still need to adjust them downwards. I included a second side by side with Black Mamba, now we're starting to match. :D

The weekend of the 19th which just happens to be my birthday I'll be installing the tint and the exhaust. I may wait on that actually depending. I have to order the ground effects kit and once that comes install it first in case I have to cut into the bumper which I don't wan't to do this time. If I can get my exhaust guy to bend the exit the way the Vibrant Cat Back is that would be ideal.

Adjusted the headlights so they're lower and even now. This will be the last time I post pics of Eleanor bone stock. :D

Ground effects kit en route, and most mods coming in the next month and a half give or take a few weeks. Should be very close to finishing the conversion by the end of August! :D

So the next time I post pics of her she should be almost completely SR'd out. hehe

Okay so back in the day I installed the SRI that Hyundai and AEM had for these cars. I loved the sound and the improved giddy up that came with it. Fast forward to today; I decided for the time being (ordering a SRI in a couple weeks), I'd remove the incredibly restrictive snorkel from the stock air box to the front bumper. Since I'm getting the full exhaust done this Tuesday (minus headers coming next month-ish) I might as well do this temporarily. Long story short, the mod was very easy, did it in less than 20 minutes, started her up and went for gas.

Holy jeebus does she growls at anything 2nd gear or higher, and I do mean grooowwwllllsssss. lol Much more than with the SRI! For those who have done this refrain from laughing and saying "no duh we've been doing this for years!" Because like I mentioned earlier I just went from stock right to the SRI. I'm assuming the growling comes from the fact that the air box is rather large and it resonates like a mofo in there. I know that a proper SRI will probably be better performance wise but I'll be hard pressed to switch after hearing this sound! lol Anyhow, that's the latest update. Will write a post exhaust install update Tuesday night. :D

I know I said no more pics before the SR kit but what the h4ll! :D

Custom 2.25" pipping to Magnaflow 14830 and Magnaflow high-flow cat. Headers in a month or two, SR Ground Effects Kit officially shipped this morning! Can't wait to install it. Of course she'll be lowered and have engine strut bar installed in a month as well.

I need to ask you a favor. I'm in the production of filming the rear wiper tests on the windshield wiper series. Refer to the info I gave you last week can you take some flickr photos or the rear wiper close up. Then open the truck and take some photos or the wiper motor then unplug the connector and talk a pic of the female and male side of the adapter face and another side picture of both to show the color wires. And finally a pic of the wiper motor showing a wide shot of all the screws holding it on. I will include a pic of your icon and credit to you if you help me with these photos. In turn you will be helping out thousands. Upload them here in this post and I'll download then here. Just finished part 3 switch testing with power probe 3 to the fuse panel. Part 4 will be wiper arm removal followed by wiper motor testing and wiring then I will be removing the headlight and bumper and showing testing at the pump and all the ground distrubtion circuits as well. Then I will be filming the footage for my next series Hyundai horn series because the horn is behind the bumper as well so I might as well recording testing of the horn while I'm in there. I hope you can help me out. If you really up to it maybe we can meet in person and I could use your car to video test the actual switch according to the service tech manual. I live in dunnville and I see your in Toronto not that far from me. I could arrange to bring my studio equipment down there to do a filming. I own 2 HD camcorders and 2tripods and 1000 watt lighting with defussers.who knows. By the way your car is exactly the same color as mine.

Yeah man for sure. If you come to me during the weekend you can record Eleanor to your hearts content. lol I'm not very technically inclined so I'd rather you do it and I'll film it. lol While your here maybe you can listen to this annoying sound my clutch is making? Let me know when, this weekend is a no go because it's my Bday on Saturday, but the following Saturday I'm free. Let me know.

Man that's amazing of course! Yeah any date except this weekend is great. No need to buy me lunch man I was already wondering what you eat. lol my GF already said she'll cook up her famous pasta. :D But I'll happily do a video for sure. I hate being on camera but it is for a good cause. ;) I'll email you when I get home. Have a good night.

Be prepared to pay through the nose. Cost me almost $700 all in to get the ground effects kit shipped here and I talked the guy down from $499 to $399. lol

Ground Effects

You'll find another one on there but he doesn't use USPS, he instead uses UPS and you'll get raped on shipping (brokerage and shyte). Other than that there's almost no "Canadian sites." I got all my stuff shipped from the U.S, or Korea.

#21 ·
Ground effects. I got your email. Your looking to install the lights under the car? Cops catch you the will ticket u especially in Ontario. Can you post a link or picture of what the kit looks like. Throw me you phone number in return email. I call you have unlimitd phone USA to Canada cell plan. I'll call you from my states phone. On my way to Kentucky

#22 ·
Ah I see.I'm assuming you need to drill into the car with this kit. I habe drill bits and even own a extensive tap and die kit for threading metal and fixing damaged threads. You car will look dope with this kit installed. Blue lights under the car would be a nice touch.

Weird my post is gone. lol

It's the OEM body kit for the Accent. :D

GEK

I bought that one, and no lights under the car for me. lol That's Ricey! lol

yeah the kit calls for a rivet gun (can use self tapping screws or whatever instead) and I'd need Jacks for the car of course and a few other tools. But you won't be home this weekend either way.

#24 ·
So go to pick up my kit from the post office and receive a slap in the face. $67 x 3! So on top of the almost 2 bills I spent on shipping already it's going to cost me another 2 on top of that just to have the privilege of picking them up. Ever watch Office Space? Remember Milton and what he'd mumble when angry? Yay that was me, so now I have to wait until Wednesday (payday) to pick the shyte up. Worst part, the seller like a moron sent three separate packages instead of one. Also it'll end up costing me as much on shipping than the item actually cost me. UGH!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

#25 ·
Next time you need to order something in the states I might be able to help you if you order can be sent to a store in the USA. I do this many times when ordering OEM Hyundai parts and accessories. I'm allowed 800 buvks duty free to bring items across the boarder every 48 hrs. The benefits of traveling into the USA
.. ;)

#26 ·
You know funny thing is I thought of you when I realized this package came from Michigan. lol Even my GF said "what about that Barbie killing guy?" lol Thanks for the offer man. on the 15th of August is round two of spending for this project; Proper CAI, lowering springs, tint, short shifter, and possibly the headers. Other than tint, the other things would be great to film and add to your channel. :D

#27 ·
Does this kit use stickey tape and rivits? Are the rivits included? Are they plastic or metal? If so I read you should use a plastic rivit gun. I would be interested in start ing a mod section on my channel. I've actually had many user requests for mod videos from wiring to body molding. I don't mind letting you use my drill, sockets jack and stands. I'm sure it will get many thousands of hits considering there are very little video about ground effects installations. The only tool I do not own is a rivit gun. I've seen them not that expensive

#29 ·
Yeah the kit comes with everything. It's double sided tape and metal rivets (provided). I'll be using different stuff probably, I get the kit finally Thursday after a fiasco at the post office. I have use of the Ferrari racing garage here so I don't need to go far. But in a few weeks I'll be buying a few different mods that I will drive up to you to install (or you come here). What we can do is I can do an explanation vid that you could post on your channel later. Or even you could do it and I'll film it.

Especially things like Headers and cold air intake, lots of taking things a part that most don't know how to do.

#31 ·
No no I just meant even after it's installed we can do a followup vid showing how it was installed. It's pretty easy from what I've been reading. But with a vid we could go over stuff and show the different stuff used and where etc.
Especially since you want to add a mod section and I have some big ones coming like the headers that would be awesome to be able to film that. I have the skills and equipment to edit video by the way. ;)

Cool. I use adobe premier pro. My window washer series is my more advanced editing. I redid my into. With 3d letters. I use to use movie maker software but decided to get more serious about putting up quality not quantity videos. My channel has over 177 thousand views. Almosr at 500 subscribers

Everyone on idiot tube will show how to replace something but I go into high detail about replacing but also like to show users how to test and trace down a problem. Recording is the easy part. Editing can take hrs. My timing belt video took over 18 hrs to record and edit. YouTube pays jack considering the thousands of hrs I've spent uploading over 50 plus videos. Lol
