Hey guys,

I haven't been here in probably a year or so, but I thought I would come back and share the pictures of my accent's accident.

I was rear ended a week and a half ago and was spun sideways into the car in front of me. I was stopped when I was hit, and the person hit me at about 50-60 KPH.

I spun sideways into the corner of the car in front.

A week and a half later, the metal is already oxidizing

The car that hit me.

My insurance company quoted me $8000 damage. It may be a write off :(

Thanks.

Here's a picture of the inside of my trunk. The spare tire area actually still held its shape, but the fact that parts of my bumper pushed into my trunk says a lot.

I had to take the light bulb out of my trunk, because my car thinks its open and keeps the light on which kills the battery. I have the trunk open light on the dash lit up 24 hours a day though.

It sucks, but walking away from something like this is the most important thing. Hopefully the insurance issue works out. what is the value of the 09 MC in your neck of the woods?

As others have mentioned, glad the most important thing, your well being, is ok.

I notice you used kph, do you live in Canada by any chance?

I also got into an accident with my accent back in december, some guy sped out of a plazaa without even checking. I'm with intact insurance and they quoted me for $9k damage, but they didn't write off the car since they said its worth $13k. I had just under 40,000km at the time on my '11 base hatch with sports package, so if you're in Canada (Toronto to be exact), you can use that as a reference point.

Ok thanks for the numbers. Yeah, I'm over in Manitoba. My car is a 2009 Hatch, 5spd sport model with 60,000km on it. Its been a great car for me, but I always thought it should get better fuel economy then it actually returns. From looking around Kijiji and Autotrader, a 2009 is worth in-between $9,500-10,500.

Oh, random fact. I have the 7 year Hyundai extended warranty and I have recently learned that I can call Hyundai, explain to them that my car was written off, and they will reimburse me for the 4 years warranty left! How cool is that!

Did you know my car got in a 2klm wreck. My wife turned left and my daughter was runnning towards the car prom the park on her right. She looked over and hit a car parked on her left. 9000 dollars. This is what they replaced. Tie rod. Rotor brakes caliper axle, bumper and grill. Front wheel panel. Windsheild. Door and mirror. Geeze the cars only worth 14grand new. Anyway I talk to the insuring and told him maybe 4 grand for parts. I should know I looked them up. These cars are made cheap. Anyway no rust cars runs good no misalignments frame is square. I feel for you!

Your 09 is only worth about 4500 man. They are not going to pay you 9000. Just a tip. Make them fix it. You can by law do the work yourself and they will pay you! Telll them to fix it. They are going to screw you telling you to write it off. Trust me on this. They are going to give you the bluebook value of it. You will end up buying a older car and getting screwed with a **** ride.

Not an Accent but I bought this 2008 Sonata to rebuild. Only has 32,000 miles so it should be worth it.

Needs a hood, bumper, radiator support, radiator and condenser. Aftermarket parts are pretty reasonable. $65 for a radiator, $55 for a condenser. I'll be looking for matching color body parts and might end up just buying a car wrecked in the rear to part out.

As mentioned...

Greetings, As others have mentioned it is good your are okay! Cars can be replaced or repaired much easier than us humans. I hope it works out with the insurance co. Looks like it took a pretty good punch to the rear and into the trunk area.
