Raise it one side at a time on the factory jack lift points (pinch welds) then rest it on wood block, then use the jack to lift and lower the axle when when removing and installing the shocks.

So when it comes to replacing the shocks on a 2009 Accent, is it as easy as it is for a Santa Fe? I found this YouTube video for the Santa Fe
and it makes this job look simple enough for even ME to do it!

Is there anything much different for the 2009 Hyundai Accent in this regard??

Whoah, can you upload a pic of that? That's where I lift the front of the car, there isn't much else TO lift with and the cradle is basically the strongest piece of steel on the car...

Yeah I can do that, I will gladly display my stupidity.

It might be a while but I will get a pic next time it's off the ground. I just changed oil in it about 500 miles ago. I'm not liking how the slush box is shifting so I may get it back up on ramps soon to change the fluid.

I guess I shouldn't say bent, it's probably more like a dent. I may have had the jack in the wrong place, who knows. Others here haven't had that happen to their MC when lifting with the cradle.

BTW, got the KYB's in, they look really nice. I will probably wait until it warms up before tackling the replacement.

I have just changed the rear shocks on a 2007 Accent, you don't even need to remove the road wheel. Just jack the body up high enough to access the top mount bolts visible over the top of the tyre, the tyre doesn't even leave the ground. Then after putting a block of wood or safety stand under the body as well, slide under the back and take out the lower mount bolt, this one was tight and I had to use an extension on my ring spanner to loosen it. After that the unit just falls out, it really was a 20 minute job and the ride improvement was incredible.

Two bolts mount it to the body (accessed from outside the vehicle), and one nut mounts the top of the shock to the mount (accessible once the shock and mount are removed from the vehicle).......

I took a look at the rear shocks on my 20009 Accent today as well... So I just want to confirm that the two bolts at the top of the shock, accessed from under the car will realease the top part of the shock? And then just the big single bolt at the bottom?

In the video I posted in this thread earlier, which is a shock replacement for a Santa Fe, the top connector is accessed from a panel inside the back hatch of the vehicle. Not so for the Accent??

Those two top bolts and one bottom are all it is. You don't have to access anything from inside the car.

Once the top 2 bolts and the individual bottom bolt are removed the shock can be removed from the vehicle. Once it's removed the single bolt on the top will separate the shock from the mount.......install reverse of removal.
