2009 Accent. Noisy, Grinding rear brakes

My read brakes have been grinding. I bought new pads to replace them. After pulling the drums I noticed that they were hardly worn. 50,000 miles on the car. They was a bunch of brakes dust in them. Cleaned the dust out and put the drums back on. It was quiet for about 3 weeks, now the grinding is back. Any ideas?

Did you apply a high heat grease to the backing plate where the shoes make contact? Did you disassemble and clean the brake adjuster? did you properly adjust the adjuster?

Also check the mating surface of the drum to make sure there is not a ridge of rust build up that may be rubbing against the side of the shoe.

Did you replace the brake shoes? Sounds like you took off the drum and just cleaned the inside. I had the same issue, cleaned the brake and the grinding went away only to return weeks later. Decided to replace the shoes and has been much better. I used Raybestos shoes as the replacement. No more grinding and its been 8 months

No, I didn't change them. Just took an air hose and cleaned everything up. I still have the new ones, good weekend project. Thanks Guy, thats the kind of answer I was looking for.
