Has anyone here removed an automatic shift knob? I ordered the OEM leather one, and now confused over the wire for the overdrive switch. HMAservice makes no mention of the switch/ wire in the books (unless I've missed it).

Help pleaseeeeee =)

No no... that is the new shifter (it has the O/D switch installed already with the wire coming out the bottom).

I haven't touched the old shifter yet.

Look at component #10 (the part in the picture)

Oh ok...so then I would assume that when you take off your old shifter that you will have to disconnect the old wire, and the new one should plug in pretty easily...the part is OEM so there should not be an issues really...but hopefully someone who has done this before can provide more insight than my guessing lol

I'll check tomorrow... It looks like I'll have to modify a connector somewhere (which isn't listed at all) . I was hoping to not take off the console but i'll look into it tomorrow.

I was suspecting you might have to take the console out to get to it. Engineers wouldn't want to make it easy for us. lol

Knob looks great though - is that from a higher level model, or is it some sort of OEM accessory? I've only seen the manual knob in the catalogs, I didn't even know one for the auto existed. That would be a nice companion to the new leather wrapped wheel.

Don't really understand why you are confused. Remove console, disconnect old OD switch, remove shifter. Installation is the reverse of removal. Just gotta reuse the plug from your original shifter (pop out the pins). If there's no connector, just cut the wires from the old knob and connect them to the new one.

I hate signatures with pictures.
