Hey all. I mentioned during the week that I bought a throttle response controller called Pedal Commander. I got it in the mail this morning and it was very easy to install for it was only plug & play. I was skeptical when I placed the order on Monday but I'm very glad that I gave it a chance when I installed it. This thing woke up my 2.4 Sonata and I feel a big difference in pickup. Of course it doesn't increase horsepower and torque but the throttle sensitivity will throw you into your seat from a standstill. I'll try to put up a video as soon as I get the chance but overall I am very satisfied with the Pedal Commander.
I thought that only applied to people with lifted pickups with straight piped exhausts, train horns and the blinding LED light bars across the grille and on the roof. No offense!
Is the car easier to drive? I find the pedal response OK... and I have the drive selector so can bring it to sport mode, but hate that it holds the gears longer..
The car is pretty easy to drive depending on the settings you set for the throttle. Setting the pedal commander to the maximum setting made a huge difference in pickup. It throws you into the seat that's for sure. I do like a little giddyup when hitting the gas so I set it to what I think is the moderate setting which is Sport +2 on the module.
Just looked up the device.
Pretty pricey.
When I first bought this car I vowed to not mod it since I do not drive it regularly, the other half does and she wouldn't care about these kinds of mods anyway.
I modded my Altima SE and it is a great car but I drove it regularly.
Glad you're happy with the results, that's what really matters in the end.
When I had it set to the maximum setting it brought my mpg down from 18mpg to 16.4 mpg and the worst I've seen so far is 15.8. Because I take the highway to and from work I use Eco on the Sonata's drive mode as well as the pedal commander's Eco mode, which for lack of a better term, makes it like a 'double eco' when driving. My mpg mileage is pretty much restored after 25 minutes of highway driving with both settings on.
I looked at the reference page and what install information is available. Looks simple enough to install. Size of the control module is 6 x 4 x 2 inches so its not small. Where did you install it in your Sonata. A picture of the install mount would be great. Considering one myself but not sure where would be a suitable location.
