Portable XM Radio for the car.

I'm looking for a portable XM radio for the car(s). My wife (has to) have XM for the country stations she listens to (no FM ones in the area) and I kept paying for a subscription for her car and pay the $3 so she can get it on the computer. Well we never take her car very much anymore and I'm still paying all that money while it sites in the garage and we take the HSH, now without XM.

So If I can get a portable one, use the adapters for FM broadcast, I can have it in both cars.

Anyone know of any brands that will work. Just saw one that is a lighter outlet and XM holder and FM broadcaster.
Anyone have a brand that works with the HSH ? Yea, the antennas will have to be run, but they are going cheap. Not going to try to fine the factory one. I might even have one from a portable XM I bought back in 2004.

Can't use an Iphone one, she's on it too much in the car.

Not sure what I am missing here?

Does your car have bluetooth streaming? If so, couldn't she just stream it from the XM app that you are already paying for.

As far as I know, the portable ones are pretty much only made by SXM not (specifically via Directed/Audiovox).

I had (have but don't use) an XM Onyx Plus, which works well. Look for deals and they are often around $30-$50 with a subscription. The XM Onyx without the plus or XM Onyx EZ would work fine if you don't care about album art or advanced features.

If you get the package with the portable speaker dock and an extra car kit, you'd be golden. You'd have a car kit for each car and the speaker for home. The car kits can be plugged in the aux port in our cars.

the other option is call Sirius/XM and threaten to quit, they should offer a deal on a year. Lots of people just do that every year. Last time I did that, I was offered a year for $79. That was a few years ago.

You may be able to get a better deal on just the car kit from TSS-Radio | SiriusXM Satellite Radios, Antennas, Accessories, Installation Gear

If you only posted this a few weeks ago before I cleaned the storage closet lol. I had two XM "portable" units from old vehicles of ours. An XM Roady and another one. I even had headphones that made the Roady portable. Since they were all in the closet for 4-5 years, I just tossed them lol. With bluetooth and smart phones and since you already subscribe to online streaming, you should be able to download the app to your smartphones as well.

If you stream from the phone app. Aren't you using wireless data ?

She streams to her PC when at home.

Yea, there aren't many (any) mobile choices anymore. Might look for a used unit. I see the tiny one from the lighter plug in for sale.
We only keep it on a few stations.

Depends on your cel provider. We have Boost and unlimited data - although it slows down after a certain limit. Some providers allow unlimited streaming, but it is often through Spotify or Pandora. I'm not sure if SXM is included in that or not, but if it is and your radios support BT streaming, that is by far your simplest option.

I'm not following you here - there are 4 current mobile radios (Onyz EZ, Onyz Plus, Stratus 7, Starmate 8). You do have to install a cradle and the antenna to use them in the car or home, but there are options.

I let my free 90 Day expire. Keep getting offer letters, the latest caught my attention, 6 months, 30 dollars. I called, asked what they could offer me for a year. Answer $99.00, My reply, call me when you can actually do something better/closer to 60 / year. I like the service, but think it is over priced. I am not in the car long enough for my commute, so I listen to the stuff I have on my Phone's SD card.

Sorry for being off topic. Just fresh in my mind.

Adding to Tiger-Heli's comment, if you have T-Mobile, Sirius XM streaming (among a ton of others) doesn't count against your data.

I hate it when that happens!

I got one of those setups, too, the RoadyII with the cradle and headphones. I can take it and listen to it anywhere...outside. Gotta have a line of sight for the signal!

I also have a home antenna. I mounted it out the window and ran the wire to my desk...

Do you know any satisfying profanity?!
