Hey guys, I'm in need of a little help. My '15 2.0t LF limited makes a weird noise from the engine bay (I'm assuming)- almost like a thump or a clunk. I've read on other forums and posts that people were experiencing a continuous knocking or clicking sound. However, I only hear a single clunk/click. It usually happens (but isn't limited to) when the car is under load and I'm driving around 2.5 RPM. Right as I let off the throttle, I'll hear the clunk followed by my BOV. Sometimes, when I'm driving up-hill, I'll hear a click. Not a continuous clicking or ticking, but a single click. The clunk happens randomly, but more so after the car has already been warmed up. I've been running 91 octane since I've purchased the car, but recently started filling up with 87. I decided to switch because I've read that unless my engine is tuned to read a higher octane, the combustion timing might be thrown off. The first 2 times I ran on 87, all the noises disappeared. Now I'm on my 4th tank of 87 and the sounds came back so I'm wondering if its the gas that's the issue or if its something else.
I feel like I should also mention that I've already had my motor replaced (under warranty) at around 29k miles (also only used 91 octane in the old engine, but the 3rd cylinder began misfiring (code P0303)), and I'm currently at 34k miles.
If anyone has experienced this or knows anything about what I've mentioned, I would really appreciate some help! Thanks in advance.
