Hi all,

Did anyone get this service done? I just noticed it on bluelink under the recall section. Just wondering if anyone has done it or not. i remembered hyundai had a service similar to this last year. Going to get it done on Dec 24. This service was posted on nov 29,2016, so it is new.

Thanks!

Perhaps it's model year specific? My 2016 2.4L sport doesn't seem to have any open campaigns regarding an ecm update. Maybe I should give the dealer a call and ask.

Inspect of VCM for gear damage via "Actuation Test",,, replace if damaged, and update PCM either way... kinda been ongoing update since chassis come out for 2015,, replaced some in past, some been ok, others carried on ito an intake manifold replace..

Quick test for VCM be to take off from stop and put the hammer down, or stand on it when driving.. if it wrap up and shift normal, all is well so far.... if it wrap up and fall into LIMP MODE,, then we know we have issue.

Replaced a couple VCM with this new procedure already in last week..

I just called to set an oil change appointment and asked if they would do the update at the same time and the girl put me on hold and came back and said her advisor told her that they will only do the update if my check engine light is on? Is this a thing? Kind of pissed me off...

TX8 2015 & T1H 2015-16 campaigns

Mfr Campaign/Safety Recall Notice:CampaignId:T1HManufacturerCampaignId:T1H 2015-16 SONATA 2.4L ECM UPDATE AND VCM INSPECTION

Had two updates done yesterday. Don't have the technical details yet as the service writers seem to have little clue. Driving in eco mode though, the upshifts are more positive and quicker. That may be a result of the ECM update.

I called the dealership back today after PM'ing with sbr711 and they are applying the update when I come in for my oil change on Thursday. I will report back any noticeable changes.

Thanks to sbr711 for using his magic powers and looking into this for me. I appreciate the help and advice. [emoji106] [emoji106]

I have a different campaign ID, but this was done a couple of weeks back at the dealer during an oil change... I also notice that Eco mode seems to be a lot more usable now... doesn't feel as sluggish as it did before.

I also had an annoying issue where lightly pressing on the gas pedal from a stop would cause the car to lurch a bit... doesn't seem to happen at all now since the campaign was performed.

I've been checking frequently on the myhyundai website and nothing comes up regarding any updates. Does this recall apply to vehicles built in a specific time of year? Mine was built in April of 2016

Still no good lol I put my vin number in and it didn't say anything. I'll give my dealer a call tomorrow morning while I schedule an oil change.

I had the software update done yesterday. Eco mode seems to be a lot more usable now, it doesn't feel as sluggish as it did. Plus, the shift in Eco seem to be smoother and quicker.

lightly pressing on the gas pedal from a stop would cause the car to mob down a bit, doesn't seem to happen since the software update was performed.

Stooped b y the dealer yesterday to check on a problem I am noticing. Often, when coming to a stop, the last downshift causes the car to lurch forward a bit. They had hear of it and suggested getting the real done for the ECU and see if that fixes the problem. I haven't noticed it after the recall and the tiny hesitation when starting out seems to be gone. They said the Pano roof recall doesn't have a fix yet.

Hello, I am new to these forums, but I just purchased a new 2016 Sonata Sport a few weeks ago. I am having the problem with a slight stuttering when I take my foot off the brake. The dealer says their are no recalls or open campaigns on my car. But it sounds just the problem others are having that has been resolved with the ECM update. How can I check on this or get my dealer to figure out what is wrong?

Took mine in and described the problem, check engine light goes on, car goes into coast mode when you accelerate. They knew exactly what it was and replaced the VCM (whatever the **** that is). Car no longer seems to hunt for a gear at slower speeds. And no more coast mode on acceleration. 21000 miles.

So before I took mine in for the update my car was revving past 3rpm to switch gears (in normal mode and toeing the throttle) which I thought was odd..but having never owned a Hyundai before maybe this was normal?
Took it to the dealer they had to replace my vcm and update ecu...took them almost 3 hours! I had to walk up to the desk and ask what's going on only to see my car sitting in the parking lot. Nobody bothered to tell me my car was done.

ANYWAYs...whatever they did the car drives much better now and it is definitely noticeable.

Survey response.

Almost everytime I have my Sonata in for Service / Maintenance I get a survey request.
I know that the Service Management see's my responses because I usually get a thank you (I have yet had to give a negative review)
The service advisors are paid based on the Response Scores.. So if you get the request, Let them have it.

Also checkout a different dealership for your service requirements. They should continually earn your business, even if it is warranty related.

I'm in Canada, just asked Dealership for an update on recalls and this is included on my VIN:

"60CA27 2.4GDI VCM Gear Damage Improvement"

To be clear, are they going to physically change something or just test it first and if working fine, just leave it until I get the dreaded Check Engine light/Limp Mode?

USA is verify VCM operation via actuation test with GDS,, and update PCM...

VCM fail,, replace VCM and install PCM update..

Picked up my car and it seems to be better with the in gear, foot brake release stumble but I didn't get the chance to really check things since the dealership is only 3 miles from work.
On the way home I will go through all the drive modes and have more time to see if there are any differences.
