I love the look of it but there isn't a chance in **** that id pay 800$ for a pre made set.
Im also scared as **** to try and open my headlight housing and do it myself..
TRS is coming out with a new really nice flex led soon that would make a perfect fill, it also includes switchback capacity that can handle turn signal.
Ive debated finding a custom shop as well.
Anyone have some thoughts?
They are made for our US Non-LED headlights and show some pictures of the installation. I have been following another thread about the bumper removal, and I removed my bumper on my 2011, so I am comfortable with that. I'm still very nervous to open up the headlights though... I'll let you know if I do this because I will post many pictures of the process!
I want to see if anyone else is interested or has thought!
Also i found this interesting, looking at the 2016 sonata hybrid is seems as though Hyundai decided to tinker the eyeline a little bit. They decided to make it kinda an under eye line ordeal, though i see no indication of lighting functionality returned to it like the Korean models have
Id assume this design change will carry over to the standard 2016 models, yet who knows if they will add lighting to them.
So TheRetroFitSource has finally posted their new XB led strips that would be perfect for the eyeline mod.
They are resonably priced and have an amber switchback built in perfectly designed to be tapped directly to the turn signal
Whos going to guinea pig this idea for me, Im still not thrilled to melt my headlights apart
Especially at the cost it is to replace them, and there are no really good custom shops in colorado that im aware of.
I would have done it, but issue is properly sealing them...
otherwise once opened the opportunities is soo endless. I'm really pissed on how the eye lid should have been the LED instead of the silly bumper.... and gave us an option for fog lights instead.
Sealing this is not a big problem. Ive done some retro halos in my Honda Accord which sadly is totaled now. What i did is buy some of this sealant Morimoto RetroRubber Butyl Glue Sealant Headlight permaseal
and put in the in the gap of the black housing not the class part of the headlight and then warmed up the glue with hair dryer and firmly presses the two headlight pieces together. i have some pictured of my Accord Headlight i can post them if you guys want.
This mod in on the top of my list. It pisses me off how there is the white line which tricks you into thinking it will light up like some of the other cars but it doesn't light up. Will buy the strip from ExLed only because it is SPECIFICALLY made for Sonata instead of it being a universal fit. Also I'm not sure about this but I've read ExLeds are the ones who made the Korean Headlights.
for those interested in this like myself it looks like Sharkracing.com has released a compete replacement kit little pricey, but no having to open your headlights!
going to attempt this soon. have done different sets of headlights and never had a problem, so im not too intimidated. Thinking about using the 24" switchback morimoto strip instead of paying double for exleds crap
Def keep us update TKO i really want the mod too but i wsant going to order whole new units from like shar racing at 900$
The TRS morimoto's are top notch though, I have their HID kit in my sonata now and its flawless.

definitely will do, im hoping to tackle it in the next couple of weeks. Im just worried about the light output from the morimoto strips, I hope its bright enough under the plastic in our lights! especially in the day time.
I'm thinking of doing it too. I saw just the lights for sale so I would have to open up the headlights but I'm afraid when winter comes it might start to get condensation inside and fog up. Even if I get them professionally done.
I saw this on Ebay and he asked if i had OEM HIDs , which i did. asked if I had and 8 pin Connector which i did.
then he asked if i had auto leveling? i didn't know.
He said i would be A 1:1 SWAP. Then i asked about connections for the Eye brow and how it would be connected and if they would operate with my parking lights.
i got a response that it wont fit??

It appears the white lights would be the parking lights (does that side even light?) and would probably be the same connector (wire) that we are currently using. As long as they mount up and they/we have the same connector then it should be a 1:1 (or slight mod). That auction was the first time I've seen someone state they were HID so nice to know they exist.
The newer US cars that have this same deal I've noticed that white bar turn off when the blinker is on which I would guess is due to regulation, or not having too much light interference while using your blinkers (blend in or blind facing drivers). So we may not have this ability, and not without modification, and probably the reason that we don't have them in the first place. Also US requires a sidelight so this may be an issue depending on where you live and how attentive those looking are.
yes i noticed that also on other models.. research continues. I'm set on having that Eye Line mod done. but I really do not want to open my head light. lol
I like the eyeline in Santa Fe. I think they soon bring that to Sonata. If you have a chance to open up headlight, try to see if it's easy to swap fresnel Len with clear Len. It's very easy to replace on Santa Fe, but I don't know about Sonata.

I also found out some additional info:
I just confirmed that the socket for this lamp set is indeed 8-pin, so it'll fit on US market 2015 Sonatas. Also, apparently these come with H7 xenon bulbs according to description, but it is yet to be confirmed.

Been following this thread for a bit and I am definitely not a fan of the MB-lookalike headlights... but it could just be the horrible photos they have in their listing.
I wish Shark Racing would offer the U.S. taillights. Ours look better then Korea's.
