First major ding on the car. 3 Month into ownership, was driving through some crappy downtown Houston roads today. Road was very congested, I was exiting a parking lot with a ramp, didn't look too steep at all, but the bottom of the ramp is not very smooth. There was a police officer (or maybe mall security) directing traffic..

As he stopped the traffic on the main road, so us waiting to exit can finally get going, he waved at us shouting ALRIGHT LETS GO, LETS GO, GO GO! I gave more gas than I should, and I heard the unmistakeable sound of impact as I was making the turn onto the road. Didn't think too much about it, after all, small scrapes do happen, it's part of life. I thought it was just a few nasty scratch on the bottom of the bumper that nobody will ever notice. But when I got home and parked up, OH MAN!

Definitely more damage than I thought. No cracks, so that's good. But I'm missing a whole chunk of paint at the bottom. Not very visible when standing up, unless you are looking for it, then you can definitely see the rough edges of the paint. But if you are looking at it horizontally, it's definitely visible.

Dealer says there are still no touchup paint available for 2015 sonata (really? wow), so now I can't do anything except to live with this:crying2: Must've hit one of those rough pavement rocks, instead of just a simple scrape....

I certainly hope the paint around it won't start lifting due to a big chunk of paint missing like this?

I applied some duplicolor touchup primer for now, the gray color of the primer is definitely better than the black damage on white... Spot still looks kinda rough.
Not going to care too much about the underside, I'm not sure what's the best way to fix the rough edge that I can sort of see when looking at it. Maybe once I get it color matched when the touchup paint arrives it will look better

Watch out for those concrete curb things in the front of parking spaces too. Not sure if the 15 sits any lower or the same a 13. Those will do a number to the underside bumper as well. I too took off a chunk of bumper on one of those shortly after I got my car.

i also have several scratches on my car. I called several dealers to ask about the touch up paint for symphony silver (color code Y8S i believe). None had it , but one said to try calling back in Jan, as that is what HQ told them it would be avalable.

try calling several dealers, have them contact Hyundai corporate and see what the story is

on another note, i bought 2014 radiant silver touch up, but of course its not quite the same, it looks a little darker.

They told me its due to Hyundai switching suppliers for their touchup paint, mine told me call again around Jan or Feb to see if they got it. For now, I just touched it up with primer, will finish it off when I get the actual paint. In hindsight I should've sanded a bit, the edges are pretty rough..but oh well.
