Anybody have some good pointers on removing the factory stereo? The factory stereo on my 2004 Hyundai Accent only has a cassette player and I just purchased an Alpine CD player to install. I'd rather do it myself than get ripped off on labor by having it done professionally. If you have any good advice that would be helpful...

Well, good question but you would probably want the 2004 forum. http://www.hyundai-forums.com/f72-2g...005-accent.htm

They would have more experience and info.

I posted on how to take the dash apart to do this on a 2002 a few days ago. Search my posts and maybe the directions are the same. I bought my stereo through crutchfield and it came with detailed instructions specific to my car, a wiring harness, and a piece of molding to insure the stereo fits right. I guess my advice is to buy from crutchfield.

Thanks for your help. So far I've ALMOST got the center face off. All I have left to do is detach one of those pesky cables from underneath the dash on the driver's side. I decided to take a break (my fingers are all tore up). All the rest of the cables have been detached and then I've also just got to disconnect the air control knobs. It appears that they too need to be disconnected, in order to get in there. Thanks for your help and hopefully once I get that last darn cable detached...I'll be well on my way to having a better operating and sounding stereo....
