Unhappy

How do I change the manual transmission fluid on my 1.6L 5 Speed 2001 Accent? I have 113,000 miles on my car and have never changed it. From reading various posts I probably should have changed it a couple of times already since I drive 35 miles each way to work and about 10 miles of it is stop and go traffic. I've recently started having problems with shifting. I have to wait at least 2 seconds before shifting, or wait until the RPM's drop below 1500 to shift, otherwise they grind a little bit as if I didn't push the clutch in all the way. I tried bleeding the clutch and replacing the clutch release cylinder, but no luck. I'm hoping changing the oil will fix the problem. It's about $115 for the clutch master cylinder. If the repair is going to involve dropping transmission, then I'm out of luck.

no filter involved...approximately * 2US qts (1.9L) SAE 75W/85 gear oil...synthetic, if you prefer.

*Be sure to double-check your Accent's particular model-year transaxle oil capacity, as listed in the original Hyundai owners manual, or, on the HMAservice.com website, before you get started. (my example above is based on the published oil capacity of the manual transaxle used in the 2007 Accent)

He's right about making sure you verify the correct specs. My 2001 Accent requires 75W-90 GL4 Much to my surprise when I went to the auto store it said it was suitable for GL3, GL4, and GL5. I'm wondering what the GL stands for. Mine took just over 2 quarts. I had to by a filler tube as well. If you don't you won't be able to get the oil in there because of the location. I had to take air intake for the air filter off and remove the battery so I could get the hose down to the hole without it kinking to bad. Also once you have the hose in there and the other end attached to the bottle of oil it doesn't want to flow because it kind of creates a vacuum. So I took a knife and jabbed a couple of holes in the bottom of the oil bottle while it pored into the transaxle and then it flowed much better. I still had to squeeze the bottle a little though to speed up the process. My Accent is a 5 speed, so it may be different if you have an automatic, I don't know.
